What’s the first thing you notice about someone who looks “young for their age”?

It’s usually not about the lack of wrinkles; it’s about how they move with grace and ease. Great movement carries youth and confidence.

“Ilang taon na siya? Grabe, ang ganda ng takbo!” said by a senior client when he chanced upon Sir Jedd running on our treadmill.

Even in his late 50s, Sir Jedd shows that long-term consistency beats short-term intensity. He went to us without any body pain. What he wanted was to stay pain-free while improving his strength and biomechanics, alongside his pursuit of clean eating. As a business owner himself, he knows that time management is necessary for him to establish a regular exercise in his routine. So, to balance things, he goes here once a week, without any miss. This steady effort over time achieved sustainable results that made exercise a part of his lifestyle.

Does exercising matter to an artist?

Just like any profession, a sustainable and thriving career as an artist or any creative role requires prioritizing self-care and physical health. Taking proactive steps to maintain your well-being is not just a personal choice; it’s an investment in the longevity and quality of your work.

Sir P realized this after recently developing shoulder pain at his desk work as an Art Director. He was also enduring chronic low back pain since 2022. His assessment showed that he was stuck in a swayback posture.

A swayback posture happens when your hips shift too far forward that causes your lower back to arch excessively. To maintain balance, the upper back compensates by rounding, which collectively places compression on the lower back and shoulders. This domino effect contributed to his chronic stiffness and pain.

After 6 training sessions with us, he's gained noticeable progress:

Assessment:
❌ Swayback posture
❌ Hips shifted forward, lumbar arched excessively
❌ Rounded upper back and depressed shoulders
❌ Rib flare, lacking core tension
❌ Trunk twisted to one side
❌ Chronic low back pain
❌ Shoulder pain

Progress after 6 weeks, 1x/week training:
✅ Improved overall postural alignment
✅ Resolved low back and shoulder pain

Persistence shows up in all sorts of ways.

It could be the passion that you have to reach a goal.

Other times, it's the toughness you build from bouncing back after a setback.

Sometimes, it's as simple as having the patience to wait for your turn.

That's the kind of persistence we saw in Sir M. He came to our clinic without an appointment, and was determined to finally get his sciatica treated after seeing us on Facebook. We were fully booked at that time, but instead of leaving, he decided to wait. We were impressed by his patience and noticed his determination to get better, so we accommodated him last minute. His persistence shows even during his training sessions with us, as you can see from the improvements he made below.

Let’s Get to Work

Hello and welcome! I am Aldwin Cruz, licensed Physical Therapist and Functional Patterns - Human Foundations Practitioner. We physical therapists give healthcare to patients with common rehab conditions such as low back pain, sports injuries, stroke, and post-operation cases, helping them return to function and get back to a better shape. For the past years, I have been employing Functional Patterns Training principles & method to myself and clients, for rehabilitation of injuries, alleviating body pain, and improving strength & performance for daily life. Training under Functional Patterns - Human Foundations by Naudi Aguilar, and studying different systems such as Anatomy Trains by Tom Myers made be learn and continue to understand the intricacies of the human condition. With the help of social media, I am now extending my healthcare service by offering Home-care Physical Therapy Service for Posture and Functional Training, Pain Management, Post-operation & Stroke Rehabilitation to patients around the metro.
