ON SCREEN TIME AND OUR CHILDREN…

This recent study reinforced why the use of gadgets and unregulated screen time causes more harm than it does good.

And hindi lang po ito for young children but for our teenagers.

Sa panahon na madalas natin nakikita ang mental health issues pati na rin ang effect ng kulang sa pahinga sa overall well-being, this really is something we need to look into…

Sharing this post from JAMA Pediatrics…

Most viewed this week from JAMA Pediatrics: More screen time is associated with more depressive symptoms, potentially due to shorter sleep and worse white matter organization during early adolescence.

In this recent study published in the Journal of Human Lactation, it was shown that the macronuttient composition of colostrum adapts to the baby's size and weight during birth. Meaning nag aadjust ang protien, carbohydrates, at fat sa gatas ni mommy even at birth to match kung anong kailangan niya. Ang galing diba? Facts proven by science...

Although colostrum and mature milk are well studied, less is known about how colostrum composition varies across different birthweight categories in term infants.

This cross-sectional study (N = 252) compared colostrum collected on postpartum day 2 from individuals who delivered term infants classified as small (SGA), appropriate (AGA), or large (LGA) for gestational age.

Results showed:
🔹 Higher protein content in colostrum from the SGA and LGA groups compared to AGA
🔹 Higher carbohydrate content in the LGA group compared to AGA
🔹 No differences in fat or energy content

Multivariate analysis confirmed that SGA and LGA status were independently associated with higher protein levels, and LGA status was also associated with higher carbohydrate levels.

These findings suggest that macronutrient composition in colostrum may adapt based on infant size at birth, even when gestational age is similar. Further research is needed to understand the implications for early infant feeding and metabolism.

Let is continue to promote, protect, and support the First 1000 Days. It is the foundation of our babies health. A sustainable health intervention.

From the day a baby is born, breastfeeding gives them the very best start to life—and the benefits reach far into the future 🌠

The nutrition baby gets from mom through her diet in pregnancy and while breastfeeding is the fuel that drives much of the brain’s early incredible transformation and can have lasting effects throughout life.

God equips the called.

A few months ago, I had the rare opportunity to once again create an instructional video intended to educate and empower parents to breastfeed and alternatively feed their infants esp. the babies born with cleft lip or palate or both as an infant and feeding consultant and partner of Smile Train. Something we Baby Dudu Docs: Child Health and Breastfeeding Care Specialists have been blessed to help with. 😇😊

This second installment (the first one was on breastfeeding with cleft) focuses on cupfeeding babies with cleft but is very much helpful even to non cleft mommy and baby dyads. Thrilled that just like the previous one, this has been translated in 11 in languages in total namely Filipino, English, Bahasa, Bengali, French, Malagasi, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili, Thai, and Vietnamese. Lakas maka K drama feels 😅.
Sharing this with everyone with prayers that somehow this lands that mother and child needing this guidance.

ALAM NIYO BA???

Meron TYPE 3 (due to other causes kagaya ng genes at chemicals), TYPE 4 (Gestational Diabetes or Diabetes sa buntis), and ang pinakabago is TYPE 5 (due to Malnutrition). 🤓😲

FIRST 1000 DAYS (from pregnancy to 2 years). 😉🤰🤱🥰

This is the reason why as your Baby Dudu Docs: Child Health and Breastfeeding Care Specialists we do what we can to PROMOTE, PROTECT, and SUPPORT that CRUCIAL period in baby's life. Breastfeeding and appropriate complementary feeding saves lives and is the best foundation for health.

Handwashing, wearing of masks and isolation (if infected) remain an effective way to prevent its spread.

ANO ANG HFMD or HAND, FOOT, AND MOUTH DISEASE?
Nitong mga nakaraan araw, marami kaming nakikitang kids na may signs and symptoms of HFMD...

ANO ANG SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS NITO?
1. fever and flu-like symptoms (3-5 days)
2. mouth sores
3. rashes or butlig butlig sa kamay at paa

1. Importante at mabisang intervention ang HAND WASHING (atleast for 20 seconds). Frequent and proper handwashing or pag alcholize ng mga kamay is key.

3. Avoid touching eyes, nose, mouth. Ugaliing mag hand hygiene kung hahawak man before or after.

NGAYONG HOLIDAY SEASON TANDAAN, NOT SHARING YOUR SYMPTOMS IS CARING. 😉😊
Huwag mag atubiling kumonsulta sa inyong primary care provider. With proper hygiene, rest, and good nutrition we will all enjoy a wonderful holiday season.
