Lip-ties and Breastfeeding.

One of the more common concerns mommies and their babies come to us for is what appears to be a lip-tie. More often than not, after thorough assessments (history taking, physical examination, and functional evaluation of the breastfeeding) we will see that it is NOT the lip-tie but rather something else like poor latch and positioning or a tongue-tie.

Anatomically and functionally speaking the tongue mobility is key to feeding and oral development not really the lip. And for most cases it is the tongue that may need releasing.

That is why for us Baby Dudu Docs: Child Health and Breastfeeding Care Specialists we care not to jump the gun and release without due and proper evaluation. Sabi nga natin, not because we see it does it mean we should cut. 😊

Are you in doubt and wondering if it is a tie? Visit us. We will be happy to assist…

Where did 10,000 steps a day to better health come from? The 10,000 steps concept was initially formulated in Japan in the lead-up to the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Because the Japanese character for “10,000” looks like a person walking, the company called its device the 10,000-step meter. Thus the 10,000 steps a day was not based on science, but a marketing strategy to sell step counters. Modern research has actually shown that 4,00-7,500 steps a day can be just as beneficial to health and a more realistic goal without discouraging people from walking fewer steps than the elite 10,000.

So what does this have to do with breastfeeding? You are being marketed to. Almost everything related to infant sleep and feeding (bottle AND breast) is a pitch to get you to buy something in your sleep deprived state at 2am from Amazon. Don’t fall for the marketing. Is the bottle marketed to look like a breast? Yes!! But in my experience the ones that look like a b**b often don’t promote a breast-like latch at all. A cookie guaranteed to make milk? A cookie is just a cookie if you’re not actively moving that milk. A crib guaranteed to help baby sleep longer? It may work for some, but at what cost to development and the breast milk supply…

Yes, it is a fantastic time to be alive. We have more gadgets and gizmos than any other time in history. Some are amazing miracles of science and some are just downright times money suckers that will end up in the back of the closet to gather dust. If a products works for you, awesome!! Not every item will work for every family or every baby. Because we are all unique individuals. If you’re struggling with feeding your baby, invest in a lactation consultant and not your Amazon cart.

Isa sa mga health trends for diabetes and weight management ay ang pag gamit ng GLP-1 meds like tirzepatide. Is this safe for breastfeeding moms?

Isa sa effect GLP-1 meds ay ang pag control ng appetite habang iniimprove nito ang blood sugar control at metabolism.

While recent evidence show its not likely to go to the milk, mothers have to consider the impact it has on their appetite and food intake as lactating moms. You see, ang mga inay should atleast have 2000 KCal worthnof food intake while they nurse to ensure ample milk production just as theybtae enough for their bodies too…

However kung may indication at under a care provider’s supervision, mommy has to have small frequent meals and adequate protein intake.

It is recommended that baby should atleast be 7 months old or better yet 9 mos and up should mommy begin with her peptide treatments that way complementary feeding is well established already and baby has alternative and a wide variety of food sources.
