FACT: Sexuality education DOES NOT encourage young people to have s*x early. Research shows that it often results in young people delaying their s*xual initiation. It also prevents them from engaging in risky s*xual behavior.

How is HIV Transmitted?

HIV can be passed through four primary methods: semen, vaginal fluid, blood (including needle sharing), and breastmilk (from mother to child).

HIV cannot be passed through saliva, sweat, touch, air, insect bites, food, or drinking water.

There are also four requirements for HIV to be successfully transmitted:
(1) Exit - the fluid needs to exit the body to transmit HIV
(2) Sufficiency - there should be enough viral load in the fluid
(3) Survival - virus has to survive its course from its source to its recipient
(4) Entry - fluid needs to enter the recipient host immediately

This is why it is important to consistently and properly use condoms during s*x to prevent transmission of HIV and other s*xual transmitted infections.
