I’ve seen strength in many forms. But some of the strongest people I know are women who carry heavy burdens quietly, show up every day, and keep going even when the world doesn’t notice.

To the mothers, daughters, sisters, colleagues, and patients who fight battles no one else sees—your resilience is powerful. Your sacrifices matter more than words can say.

Today, on International Women’s Day, I celebrate the quiet courage, the endless compassion, and the unbreakable spirit of women everywhere. The world may not always see it, but heaven surely does.

Happy International Women’s Day to all the incredible women who inspire us every single day.

As we welcome the Year of the Fire Horse, I feel a renewed sense of purpose and momentum.

In surgery, we are trained to be precise and disciplined but we also rely on courage, intensity, and forward motion. The Horse symbolizes strength and relentless drive. Fire represents transformation, passion, and bold action. Together, they remind us that progress requires both skill and spirit.

Every operation begins with a decision to move forward. To act. To lead. To trust our preparation. That energy, focused and purposeful, is what I hope to carry into this year.

For my patients: may this be a year of healing that restores your strength and propels you toward fuller, healthier lives.

This year may the fire fuel resilience and innovation and not burnout. May we protect our peace fiercely. The evil eye and ill intentions find no place near us as they fade, fail, go blind, and die before they touch our work or our purpose.

The Horse runs forward without hesitation. This year, so will we — with steady hands, clear minds, and hearts committed to service.
Here’s to strength, momentum, and a powerful year ahead.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Thoughts on a Sunday

Cancer is the abnormal growth of cells, a loss of order where survival turns in to a silent destruction. Resentment can grow in the same way, especially as a woman standing in spaces never designed with me in mind. In a world of white coats and sharp instruments where authority has long worn a masculine face, I have felt the weight of being watched more closely, questioned more often, and celebrated more quietly. The resentment does not always announce itself. Sometimes it hides in withheld support, in the pause before my voice is acknowledged, in the subtle need to prove myself again and again.

There are moments when anger rises, when comparison whispers that I should harden, shrink, or strike back. But I have learned what unguarded anger and quiet jealousy become - they do not shield the heart, they devour it. They turn inward, dulling joy, blurring joy, thinning compassion.

So I turn to reflection. I lay down what was never mine to carry. I choose growth instead of bitterness, excellence instead of explanation. In refusing to let resentment take hold, I reclaim myself. I remember that my presence here is no accident —— it is a mark of strength, of endurance, and earned belonging.

A Blessed Sunday.

Thoughts on a Wednesday.

Professional disappointments sting, and the unraveling of a working relationship prompts a necessary pause. I sift through the friction not for blame, but for the lesson it carries—a chance to refine my communication, clarify my boundaries, and grow.

Yet this reflection always returns me to my anchor: what matters is that my patients love and appreciate me.

This is the quiet, profound truth that steadies me. Their trust and gratitude, earned in moments of genuine care, are the compass that guides my purpose and far outweighs any professional discord.

Grateful for the gifts.

"To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of intelligent people; to earn the appreciation of honest critics;
to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better;

And to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.

That is to have succeeded."

What a privilege

To be tired from work you once asked the universe for.
To be stretched by growth you used to dream about.
To be challenged by a life you chose to build,
And to outgrow things you once thought you had to settle for.

What a privilege to carry responsibilities that once felt unreachable.
To heal from things you were sure would break you.
To wake up with purpose, even when the road feels heavy.
To slowly become the version of yourself you once prayed for.

New Year. Same Standards. Same Commitment.

Medicine doesn’t pause for holidays—and neither does the privilege of caring for others.

Grateful to begin the year doing what I believe in.

Wishing everyone a healthy and hopeful year ahead.

To Heal All with Skill and Trust.

Some of the greatest honors in life are those that connect directly back to the people you serve.

Officially, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

While this is a milestone in my career, what it truly signifies is a deepened commitment to my patients. I am truly grateful for the trust. This achievement fuels my passion to continue learning, growing, and providing the exceptional, compassionate care.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being the reason I strive to be better.

Ending this month with a grateful heart.

More than the gifts themselves, it’s the heartfelt words that struck me the most—reminding me why I chose this path in the first place. To be entrusted with someone’s life, to be an instrument of healing, and to see families reunited with hope—that is the greatest reward of all.

I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve, and I thank God for giving me the strength and wisdom to do so. 🙏✨
