The Department of National Defense welcomes the appointment of Atty. Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr. as the new Secretary of National Defense.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the President and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., for entrusting me to lead the Department over the last few months. I also thank the entire One Defense Team, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines and our civilian bureaus, for their support during my tenure as the Officer-in-Charge of the Department.

We have achieved great strides in our priority programs on internal security, territorial defense, disaster preparedness, and the continued development of the defense organization. Rest assured that the DND has my unequivocal support as we all work together in the pursuit of our vision of a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Philippines.

We want to take a moment to appreciate the message of our President, who has called for unity and reconciliation. It takes courage to offer a hand of friendship to those with different political views, but it is exactly what we need in order to build a better society.

We may have different ideas about how to solve the challenges we face, but we are all Filipinos. We share a common goal: to build a country that is fair, just, and inclusive for all. We cannot do that if we are constantly at odds with each other.
So we urge you to join us in embracing the message of unity and reconciliation. Let us put our political differences aside, and let us work together towards a brighter future for our country. Together, we can achieve great things.

Thank you, and let us move forward as one nation.

As we look back to a time in our history that divided the Filipino people, I am one with the nation in remembering those times of tribulation and how we came out of them united and stronger as a nation.

I once again offer my hand of reconciliation to those with different political persuasions to come together as one in forging a better society — one that will pursue progress and peace and a better life for all Filipinos.

The administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. pledged to further digitize government services in 2023 to ensure accessibility and minimize bureaucracy and corruption.

To accomplish this, the Philippine government will optimize its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) resources and implement mechanisms for regulation, enforcement and compliance.

In addition, digital systems will be introduced to enhance fiscal management and budget reliability.

In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s call for more jobs and investment revenues, 29 Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) economic zone (ecozone) development projects worth PHP 91 billion have been approved in 2022.

These include Information Technology (IT) parks and centers, manufacturing, tourism, and agro-industrial ecozones.

The PBBM administration is set to approve more ecozone proposals in the coming years.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. had a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh today, November 10.

The two heads of government shared their perspectives on issues in Southeast Asia and beyond. PBBM held fast to ASEAN’s commitment to peace, underlining the role of ASEAN in peace-building and the necessity of sustainable peace and security needed for economic development.

To support vulnerable sectors in the face of rising prices of commodities due to global inflation, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s administration will allocate around PHP 206.50 billion in subsidies and cash support under the proposed 2023 budget.

With PHP 165.40 billion, the Department of Social Welfare and Development will get a significant portion of the budget. The Department of Health (Philippines), meanwhile, will receive PHP 22.39 billion for the implementation of Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients.

The Labor Department’s Tulong sa Paghahanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program will also be funded, while beneficiaries of programs from the Departments of Transportation and Agriculture will receive fuel assistance.
