"Starting the day right with a morning bike ride and walk with my favorite person! 🚴‍♀️💖👣"

1. Physical Health Benefits:

Cardiovascular Health:

Improved Heart Health: Both biking and walking are great cardiovascular exercises. Regular morning biking and walking help increase heart rate, improving circulation and overall heart health.

Lower Blood Pressure: Consistent aerobic activity like cycling and walking can help reduce high blood pressure over time.
Improved Cholesterol Levels: These activities help maintain healthy cholesterol levels, reducing the risk of heart disease.

Weight Management:
Calories Burned: A combination of biking and walking burns calories, which aids in weight loss or maintaining a healthy weight. This is especially beneficial when combined with a balanced diet.

Boosts Metabolism: Starting the day with these activities jumpstarts your metabolism, helping your body burn more calories throughout the day.

Muscle Strength and Endurance:

Leg and Core Strength: Biking works your quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, and glutes, while walking helps tone your lower body. Together, they build muscle endurance.

Joint Health: Walking is low-impact, making it easier on your joints, while biking strengthens muscles around the joints, contributing to better overall joint health.

Flexibility and Balance:

Improved Flexibility: Regular walking helps maintain and improve flexibility in your hips, knees, and ankles. Biking works your leg muscles dynamically, improving flexibility and range of motion.

Better Balance: Both walking and cycling help improve balance and coordination, which is beneficial as you age.

2. Mental Health Benefits:

Stress Reduction:

Mental Clarity and Calmness: Morning exercise, especially in nature, promotes the release of endorphins and reduces levels of cortisol (stress hormone), helping to calm your mind and improve focus for the day.

Boosts Mood: Physical activity helps release serotonin, the "feel-good" hormone, which can lead to improved mood and reduced feelings of anxiety or depression.

Improved Sleep:

Better Sleep Quality: Regular physical activity in the morning improves sleep patterns and helps you fall asleep faster at night.

Mental Clarity and Productivity:

Enhanced Focus: Both biking and walking increase blood flow to the brain, improving cognitive function, memory, and concentration.

Boosts Creativity: Physical activities like cycling and walking have been shown to promote creative thinking and problem-solving.

3. Emotional Benefits:

Connection with Nature:

Mindful Walking and Riding: Engaging with nature, whether on a bike ride or walk, can help improve mental well-being and reduce feelings of being overwhelmed. It’s an opportunity to practice mindfulness, enjoy fresh air, and connect with the natural world.

Mood-Boosting:

Improved Mental Health: Combining the physical benefits of exercise with the peace of nature boosts emotional health, leaving you feeling energized and positive throughout the day.

4. Lifestyle and Habit Benefits:

Establishing a Healthy Routine:
Consistency: Starting your day with these two activities sets a positive tone, creating a healthy, active morning routine that encourages consistency in your lifestyle.

Increases Energy for the Day: These exercises get your blood flowing and oxygenating your body, leaving you feeling more awake and energized for the rest of the day.

Time Efficiency:
A Quick Full-Body Workout: Biking and walking together can be a time-efficient way to engage in both aerobic and lower-body strengthening activities without taking too much time.

5. Social and Enjoyment Benefits:

Social Interaction:

Socializing Opportunity: Walking or biking with a friend, family member, or partner can enhance the experience, providing quality time together while being active.

Community Engagement: Participating in group bike rides or walking groups is a great way to meet like-minded people and engage with a community focused on health and fitness.

6. Long-Term Health Benefits:

Reduced Risk of Chronic Diseases: Regular biking and walking reduce the risk of developing conditions like type 2 diabetes, obesity, and stroke.

Better Immune System: Consistent physical activity helps to strengthen the immune system, helping you stay healthier year-round.

Health and Wellness, REALLY... REALLY IMPORTANT!

I was in a hospital last week in Quezon City and I would like to share some of my experiences inside the EMERGENCY ROOM:

Long waiting time - it's a challenge to get immediate medical relief 😮‍💨. Prioritization is based on the level of emergency need and not on queue basis.

Patient's suffering - everywhere you look, you see people in pain. You hear the sound of people wailing, vomiting in blood, foul smell of urine, some people are fighting for their lives, others either intubated or in oxygen support. It's a gloomy, weary 😩 atmosphere.

Not enough medical staff - everyone is busy. You need to be always chasing the nurse or medical staff to get updates or ask for the next steps. A caring and supportive voice to give you a peace of mind or to inspire you to keep fighting is hard to come by. I mean, you cannot blame 😔 them. If you're exposed in the hospital setting, seeing the suffering of people everyday, somehow along the way, you'll lose your compassion. You'll get numb.

Your on your own - there is no orientation, no faq, no nothing. You need to be proactive enough to know the things that you need to know or suffer the loss of time waiting for someone to give you the tips.

Having experienced all these awful things, made me realized the.importance of HEALTH and WELLNESS. Being able to walk, doing the things that you love with no apprehension is truly a BLESSING. I am so grateful of my HEALTH. To wake up in the morning everyday without sickness is really a BLESSING 🙏 from our lord above.

It made me realized to keep watchful of my HEALTH, not only for myself but also to be able to provide care to those people around me, to those who I care the most. I cannot do that if I'm sick.

Let's do our very best to keep our body in TOP SHAPE. We can do some extra mile to nourish our body and mind not only through diet and exercise but also supplementation. This will maximize longevity, stretch our lifespan a little longer and live a happy and fruitful life.

07/11/2024

14 Senyales na Long LIfe ka pa

2. Good posture - maganda ang tayo, maayos siya ibig sabihin wala pa syang back pain.
More lung problem, more muscle problem. So good posture sign ng malakas, healthy at long life.

Mukha, kulay, kamay, dila.

4. Regular Exercise - laging nag eexercise. gaano karami, 5x a week, Monday to Friday kung kaya 30 mins to 1 hour walking.

5. Healthy teeth and gums - pag yung gums natin may ipin pa, konti lang ang bungi. Yung gums walang bad breath, walang gingivitis, nag dedentist, nag to toothbrush, nag flofloss.

Overall well being din yan kasi marami ka kaibigan. Wala ka kaibigan, mag-isa ka e ma dedepress ka. Mabubugnot yan. Pag may emergency, walang sasama sa iyo.

7. Optimistic and positive outlook - mas positibo pananaw mo. Pag Masayahin, very optimistic tawag dito resilient mindset. Mas resilient, mas matibay, at mas mahaba ang buhay.

9. Good sleep - dapat maganda tulog.

10. Good blood pressure at good blood sugar - Kung naka maintain, ok lang yan basta stable blood pressure, stable blood sugar, longer life yan.

So more excercise, more fit ka, mas mababa ang restng heart rate mo.

12. Good Balance - good mobility, napaka halaga.

Sign of long life yan.

Final tip - of course mag pacheck up sa doktor.

Laging sinisipon, laging may trangkaso - laging nagkakasakit. Baka may nakatagong sakit....
05/11/2024

10 Signs na Hindi Ka Healthy

1. Laging sinisipon, laging may trangkaso - laging nagkakasakit. Baka may nakatagong sakit.

2. May pagdurogo - abnormal bleeding - nose bleeding lalo na if isang ilong lang may dugo, pag dumi may dugo, nakakatakot yan. Pwedeng may almuranas lang, may a**l fissure or pedeng may colon cancer. Pa check po
If yung dumi pag kulay dinuguan, pacheck po. Duming maitim, pedeng may ulcer. Dumudugo sikmura. Kahit anong bleeding, kahit sa regla, pag biglang humaba regla mo biglang naging 7 days o kahit di ka dapat reglahin pero in between, dinurugo ka o menopause na tapos dinurugo parin, may spotting. Mag pap smear, pa check sa ob gyne rule out tayo ng infections or cervical cancer.

3. Unstable ang personality - dati nakakausap ngayon hindi, paiba iba yung ugali so pedeng may bipolar disorder, baka manic or depressive, pwedeng may mental problem, schizoprenia, pwedeng anemic, pwedeng low blood sugar, pwedeng may infection or dehydration. Pacheck po.

4. Dark yellow ang urine - Sobrang dark or yellow or greenish na.
Pag may protina sa ihi, maaaring may diabetes or kidney failure o may kidney problem.

5. Sobrang pagod - Dapat pag nakatulog na, nakapag pahinga na, malakas na. Pero pag nakapahinga na, nakatulog na tapos pag gising, pagod parin, baka depressed o baka hypothyroid, pacheck yung thyroid, baka may adrenal gland problem, baka may toxin overload, may toxin sa katawan, pwedeng may cancer, minsan sobrang pagod, pwedeng diabetic or may chronic disease kaya laging pagod

6. May manas - Ayaw natin may manas.

Pag hinihingal - xray at 2Decho. Pwedeng hingal na panic attack lang.

Baka depressed lang or hyperthyroid. Baka diabetes, baka liver disease. Baka may problem sa tiyan.

Ito ay mga early warning signs. Dapat alerto tayo lalo na kung kayo ay 40, 50 years old at pataas.

Sana po nakatulong ito. God Bless po.

The latest global statistics on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) indicate a significant prevalence of the condition, with recent findings revealing that approximately 1 in 36 children is diagnosed with autism in the United States.

When examining historical data, the prevalence of ASD has increased dramatically over the years. For instance, the rate was previously estimated at 1 in 44 children just two years ago, highlighting a significant upward trend in diagnosis.

In the Philippines, current estimates suggest that approximately 1 in 122 children in the Philippines is diagnosed with autism, which translates to around 350,000 affected Filipino children

Children with autism typically require between 10 to 40 hours of therapy per week, which includes speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy to develop critical social and learning skills for integration.

Despite the need for therapy, access remains a challenge due to high demand, uneven distribution of resources, and a lack of centralized information.

To assist in the growing concern, PCMC designed a comprehensive WEBINAR called HOME EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM (a 7 part series) to provide training program to caregivers of patients with autism.

ON THIS DAY, October 28

American physician and medical researcher Jonas Salk, who developed the first safe and effective vaccine for polio, was born.

Jonas Salk (born October 28, 1914, New York, New York, U.S.—died June 23, 1995, La Jolla, California) was an American physician and medical researcher who developed the first safe and effective vaccine for polio.

Jonas Salk made several significant contributions to society, particularly in the field of medicine and public health. Below is a detailed list of his key contributions:

Contributions of Jonas Salk:

1. Polio Vaccine Development: Salk is best known for developing the first safe and effective vaccine for poliomyelitis (polio), using killed virus technology.

2. Successful Vaccine Trials: He conducted successful trials of the polio vaccine, demonstrating its efficacy and safety, which led to widespread vaccination programs across the United States.

3. Significant Reduction in Polio Incidence: After the introduction of the vaccine in 1955, the incidence of polio in the U.S. drastically decreased from over 45,000 cases annually to around 910 by 1962, showcasing the vaccine's impact.

4. No Patent for the Vaccine: Salk famously chose not to patent the polio vaccine, believing that it should be freely available and accessible to all, stating, "Could you patent the sun?".

5. Founding of the Salk Institute: In 1963, Salk founded the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, California, aimed at fostering scientific research and collaboration to advance biological discoveries.

6. Contribution to Vaccine Development Methodology: Salk's approach of using killed viruses represented a paradigm shift in vaccine development, influencing future vaccine strategies.

7. Funding and Support for Research: Through his work, Salk garnered significant funding for polio research, primarily from the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis (March of Dimes), assisting many other researchers in the field.

8. Legacy in Public Health: His successful vaccine campaign is credited with playing a critical role in the eventual global push towards eradicating polio, an effort that has led to a dramatic reduction in polio cases worldwide.

9. Influence on Medical Ethics: Salk's decision to make the vaccine freely available established a precedent for ethical considerations in medical research and public health initiatives.

10. Enduring Impact on Research: The Salk Institute continues to be a leading center for biological research and innovation, demonstrating Salk's lasting influence on scientific inquiry and education in the biomedical field.

Through these contributions, Jonas Salk not only advanced public health and medical research but also influenced medical ethics and the accessibility of life-saving technologies.
