“THE CONSTITUTION DOES NOT REQUIRE AGREEMENT. IT DEMANDS ADHERENCE”
READ: The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) says it recognizes the role of the Supreme Court as final arbiter of constitutional questions amid mixed views on the ruling that declared the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte as unconstitutional.
The group said although impeachment is an instrument of accountability, “its political nature does not place it beyond the reach of judicial review under the Constitution.”
“To incite public repudiation of its authority, or even just to call for its outright defiance, erodes the very foundations of the legal order,” IBP said.
