Want a great snack that’s yummy, easy to make, easy to bring around, and is packed with 10g of protein? Try this Cookie Dough Energy Protein Bites. It’s vegan and grain-free too!

1 cup Almond flour
1 cup Coconut flour
1/4 tsp Sea salt
1 scoop Plant protein powder (I used PlantFusion Complete Protein in Creamy Vanilla Bean)
1/3 pc. of 70% dark chocolate bar, smashed into smaller pieces
1/2 cup Raw Almond butter (I used Maranatha Organic)
1/8 cup Organic maple syrup
Cold water as needed

Mix all dry ingredients together. Then add the wet ingredients, mix thoroughly. Add cold water gradually to make it into a dough. Use a scooper to make the balls and roll them by hand. This recipe makes 8 balls/bites. Chill for at least 4 hours for the bites to form. Enjoy anytime!

As a rice-eating nation, Filipinos love white rice, but if you’re watching your weight or managing diabetes, cutting back on white rice can be a smart move. Here’s a comparison of two popular alternatives: brown rice and the rapidly rising star, dried shirataki rice.

Both options are lower in calories and net carbs compared to white rice and offer more fiber. Dried shirataki rice is a great choice for those who find it hard to switch to whole grains, as its taste and texture closely resemble white rice. Brown rice, on the other hand, packs a bit more protein. Your choice really comes down to your priorities—nutritional content or taste and texture.

Dried shirataki rice is also a good grain-free option since it’s made from konjac flour. However, it’s worth noting that each brand can vary; some may use rice flour instead of tapioca flour, so it’s always best to check the ingredient labels. Keep in mind that dried shirataki rice is more processed, often containing at least three ingredients to achieve its white rice-like quality.

Ultimately, both brown rice and dried shirataki rice are excellent alternatives to white rice. Choose the one that best fits your lifestyle and dietary needs! 🤓

Breakfast is still the most important meal of the day, especially when it comes to laying the foundation for balanced hormones and steady energy throughout the day. It's important to have a breakfast that keeps your blood sugar levels steady, so your body doesn't need to release a large amount of insulin. Insulin and cortisol work in tandem, especially in relation to blood sugar levels and stress responses. These two key hormones play a crucial role in maintaining hormonal balance, energy levels, and overall health.
