Did you know this about bees? 🌼🐝
Older bees don’t usually return to the hive at night. Instead, they spend their last moments resting on flowers under the stars. If they’re lucky to see another sunrise, they get back to work — still gathering nectar or pollen for the colony, even knowing their time is almost up. They choose not to die in the hive, so they won't be a burden to the others.
That always gets me. 🥺
🐝 Bees are cold-blooded creatures, like all insects — but inside the hive, they become something more: a warm, living mega-organism.
🐝 Some bees are assigned to gather pollen, others nectar. Once they start their role, they stick with it for life. No switching.
🐝 Even though dandelions are bright yellow, their pollen turns orange when mixed with nectar inside the bees’ tiny urn-like stomachs.
🐝 One bee colony once survived a full 356 days through winter, without ever leaving for cleansing flights. Imagine that level of endurance.
🐝 Even in death, bees continue to help — their bodies are used in treatments for joint pain.
🐝 And one of the most incredible things? Bees don’t sleep. Ever.
So tonight, I’m feeling a little extra grateful for my little blessed bees. Thank you for everything you do, even the things we never see. 🐝❤️
