The Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) of Speech-Language Pathology and Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) conducted inspection and monitoring for TOGETHER SPED CENTER FOUNDATION, INC. on February 19, 2025.

The PRC and PRB inspection aimed to assess the Center’s compliances such as valid professional licenses issued by the PRC, qualifications, operational manual, clinical practices, facilities and rooms, equipment and materials, and including all our SPED teaching staff’s PRC licenses and other related requirements. This is to ensure high-quality and standard professional practices and future developments.

The inspection and monitoring team was composed of the PRB of Speech-Language Pathology, Hon. JUAN PAULO SANTUELE, Hon. MA. ROWENA A. YNION, both Board of Speech-Language Pathology, and Ms. MARIA PINKY M. DE PANO and Mr. ALMADREZA S. ABDULLA, both representatives of Professional Regulation Commission IX (PRC-IX).

The following are recommendations of the inspection team.

ACTIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS:
a. Updating and posting of staff credentials e.g., Professional Identification Cards (PICs) and Certificates of Registration (CORs) should be continued. Completion of pertinent documents (e.g., Certificate of Registration) should be done, please coordinate with the PRC Representative. Copies of the remaining CORs should be submitted within a month.

b. Posting of the Organizational Chart near the front desk is highly recommended for the benefit of the clients.

c. Appropriate hiring protocol (e.g, requiring professional documents such as college diploma, PIC, COR, resume and NBI clearance) should be maintained to ensure legitimacy of professionals.

d. Procurement of at least one formal evaluation tool for SLPs is highly recommended.

e. For monitoring once the center has complied with all the above recommendations. Kindly coordinate with the PRC Representative.

A Certificate of Compliance will be issued upon completion of the recommendations within a month.

Acetaminophen (Biogesic, Tylenol, and Paracetamol) taken by pregnant women for colds increases risk of giving birth to children with ADHD.

Recent research has highlighted a potential connection between prenatal exposure to acetaminophen and an increased risk of ADHD in children. A study published in Nature Mental Health found that children whose mothers had used acetaminophen during pregnancy were more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD. This study revealed that:

* Higher Risk for Daughters: Daughters whose mothers had detectable acetaminophen levels were six times more likely to develop ADHD compared to those whose mothers didn't use the drug during pregnancy.

* Overall Increased Risk: The study suggested that around 18% of children whose mothers used acetaminophen during pregnancy had ADHD, compared to 9% whose mothers did not.

The exact mechanism is not fully understood, but researchers theorize that acetaminophen might interfere with hormone levels or affect brain development during pregnancy, leading to an increased risk of developmental disorders like ADHD. However, it's important to note that while this research points to a potential link, further studies are needed to fully understand the extent and causality of this relationship.

If you're concerned about acetaminophen use during pregnancy, it's always a good idea to consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice.
