The Philippines is one of 21 countries in the Western Pacific that have conducted a JEE since the process was introduced in 2016. Notably, it is one of only three countries in the region to have completed a second JEE, demonstrating its dedication to advancing health security preparedness and response capacities.

Results from the first JEE in 2018 guided the country in implementing targeted improvements. Over the past five years, significant milestones have been made, including the proactive revision of plans, assessments of priority health risks, and enhancements in disaster response mechanisms.

IWAS PAPUTOK!

DOH-HO! HO! 6 DAYS TO GO, Ligtas Christmas na!

❗️Sakit sa Baga or respiratory issues- malalang ubo, hika, o allergy
❗️Paso sa balat na maaaring humantong sa iba pang kondisyon
❗️Pinsala sa mata na maaaring makaapekto sa paningin
❗️Pinsala sa tenga na maaaring makaapekto sa pandinig

Maging praktikal at ligtas. ‘Wag magpaputok. Iligtas ang bawat isa sa masamang dulot nito dahil Bawat Buhay Mahalaga.

Healthcare is a fundamental pillar of our society, where compassion and care should thrive, not violence. It is essential that all healthcare environments — whether hospitals, clinics, or homes — are safe spaces for both providers and patients. As we face increasing demands and challenges in healthcare, we must also stand united against any form of violence.

Protecting our healthcare workers is not just a priority, but a necessity, to ensure they can continue their vital work with dignity, free from fear or harm. We must foster a culture of respect and safety in every healthcare setting. Together, let us 𝐄𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬.

Position Statement of the Philippine Nurses Association on the Recent Tragic Incident Involving a Nurse

The Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) profoundly mourns the tragic death of a nurse in a private hospital in Tagbilaran City. This incident, where a healthcare professional lost her life while fulfilling her duties, highlights the urgent need for increased protection and security for nurses and other healthcare workers in all healthcare facilities across the country.

Nurses serve on the frontlines of patient care, providing essential services critical to Filipino people's health and well-being. The role of nurses is not only physically and mentally demanding but also requires constant compassion, patience, and dedication. Any act of violence against a nurse is an attack on the very individuals who selflessly devote themselves to the care of others.

The PNA strongly condemns this violent act and emphasizes the importance of fostering a safe and supportive environment for nurses. We call on healthcare institutions, government agencies, and law enforcement to take immediate and concrete steps to ensure the safety of all healthcare professionals. This includes reinforcing security measures, implementing stricter policies against violence in healthcare settings, and raising awareness about the critical role that healthcare workers play in society.

We also urge healthcare facilities to support their staff in managing conflicts with patients or their families and to ensure that nurses are treated with respect and dignity in their workplace.

Our hearts go out to the family and colleagues of the nurse who lost her life, and we stand in solidarity with all healthcare workers who continue to face the risk of violence while serving their communities. The PNA remains steadfast in its commitment to advocating for the welfare and safety of Filipino nurses, and we will continue to work towards ensuring that no nurse suffers such a fate again.
