Chronic Physiotherapist 🧓🏽🩼
You’ve probably seen them or maybe even been treated by one. The Chronic Physiotherapist is stuck in the past, still relying on the same passive treatments they were taught decades ago. Their go-to plan? Slap on a heating pad, hook you up to a TENS machine for that classic “tingly” feeling, maybe throw in some “fascia release (Nonsense)” and send you home with no real plan. Repeat weekly.
They’ll blame your posture for every issue under the sun. One shoulder higher? “That’s the problem.” Sit at a desk? “That’s ruining your back.” Their whole approach is based on fixing, poking, stretching, and realigning, but almost never on building, educating, or empowering.
The worst part? These chronic therapists often create dependency. Instead of giving you tools to get better and stronger, they make you feel broken, like you need them to stay functional. Movement becomes something to fear, not embrace. Progress stalls, confidence drops, and people get stuck in a cycle of endless sessions with minimal results.
This is not what modern physiotherapy should be.
Great physio is about active rehabilitation. It’s about guiding you back to movement, teaching you how to load your body safely, building resilience, and helping you return to life stronger and more informed than before. It’s about replacing fear with understanding, and dependency with independence.
If your physiotherapist isn’t pushing for progress, if they’re not encouraging strength and confidence, it might be time to upgrade.
