Developental Delay in babies (2 years)
Delayed Milestones
What Is a Developmental Delay?
A developmental delay is when your child falls behind their peers in one or more areas of emotional, mental, or physical growth. If your child' s development is delayed, early treatment is the best way to help them make progress or even to catch up.
There are many types of developmental delays in infants and young children. They include problems with:

Language or speech

Vision

Movement – motor skills

Social and emotional skills

Thinking – cognitive skills

Sometimes, there is a significant delay in two or more of these areas. When that happens, it’s called "global developmental delay." It refers to infants and preschoolers up to age 5 who show delays lasting at least 6 months.

Food such as nuts, seeds and nut butters make a protein- and zinc-packed snack. Protein contributes to healthy brain growth and the development of long-term memory. Zinc also plays an important role during the toddler years, when the brain is growing rapidly.

✓Zinc is an essential mineral that our body needs for various functions, including metabolism, immune system function, and hormone regulation.

✓When the body lacks zinc, it can lead to hormonal imbalance. Hormones are chemical messengers in the body that regulate many processes, including metabolism and appetite.

✓Zinc deficiency can disrupt the production and regulation of hormones such as insulin, thyroid hormones, and leptin.

✓Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood sugar levels. Zinc deficiency can impair insulin sensitivity, leading to higher blood sugar levels and potentially promoting weight gain.

✓Zinc is involved in the production and conversion of thyroid hormones, which play a crucial role in metabolism. A deficiency in zinc can disrupt thyroid function, slowing down metabolism and potentially contributing to weight gain.

✓Leptin is a hormone that helps regulate appetite and energy expenditure. Zinc deficiency can interfere with leptin signaling. leading to increased appetite and potential weight gain due to overeating.

✓Zinc is also involved in energy metabolism, which is the process by which the body converts food into energy. A deficiency in zinc can affect energy production and utilization, potentially leading to weight gain as the body may store excess energy as fat
