This is a form of abnormality caused by deficiency of FOLIC ACID in the body. As a pregnant woman never try to take those drugs during antenatal period especially folic acid, vitamin B complex, calcium etc

Note!!!!
FOLIC ACID should be taken by every woman of child bearing age before pregnancy, during pregnancy and after pregnancy.

یہ غیر معمولی پن کا ایک قسم ہے جو کہ فولک ایسڈ کی کمی کی وجہ سے ہوتا ہے۔یہ ان خواتین کے بچوں میں پایا جاتا ہے جو دوران حمل اس سے پہلے یا اس کے بعد فولک ایسڈ وٹامن بی کمپلیکس یا کیلشیم کا استعمال نہیں کرتی۔
یاد رکھیں!
فولک ایسڈ ہر عورت کو حمل سے پہلے دوران یا حمل کے بعد ضرور لینی چاہیے ۔

Cleft palate and lip
Definition:
Split in the upper lip and palate because of the incomplete closure of facial structures
Causes:
Deficiency of folic acid, smoking or taking alcohol during pregnancy, diabetes and certain environmental and genetic factors
Prevention:
By taking folic acid vitamin supplements before and in early trimester of pregnancy
Complications:
Feeding problems, aspiration, speech difficulty and recurrent infection
Treatment:
Repair is by surgical approach dental care and speech therapy
