🩺Antibiotics.....!
An antibiotic is a type of antimicrobial substance active against bacteria. It is the most important type of antibacterial agent for fighting bacterial infections, and antibiotic medications are widely used in the treatment and prevention of such infections. They may either kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria.
Most antibiotics should be taken for 7 to 14 days . In some cases, shorter treatments work just as well. Your doctor will decide the best length of treatment and correct antibiotic type for you.
Antibiotics can be given in different ways, including:
1. oral – tablets, capsules or liquids that treat most mild to moderate infections.
2. topical – creams, lotions, sprays or drops that treat skin infections.
3. injections – given directly into the blood or muscle for more serious infections.
Antibiotics can be administered intravenously or by intramuscular injection. Intravenous administration provides the quickest route to achieve therapeutic plasma levels and has an onset of action of 15 to 30 seconds.
