A little background of my son's (Zohan Ali) disorder. It is called Spina Bifida, a condition that affects the spine and is usually apparent at birth. It is a type of neural tube defect (NTD). Spina bifida can happen anywhere along the spine if the neural tube does not close all the way. When people talk about spina bifida, most often they are referring to myelomeningocele. Myelomeningocele is the most serious type of spina bifida. With this condition, a sac of fluid comes through an opening in the baby's back. Part of the spinal cord and nerves in this sac is damaged.
Since Zohan has born, he has gone through 2 surgeries. But these operations are not helpful for this stage anymore, he can have 10 more but the results will remain the same. And eventually, he might pass away. Because his nerves are already damaged now. So, to treat the damaged nerves, we have been asked to go to the USA for further treatment. Doctors in Pakistan have declared it as "not possible to treat here".Then the major issue is he won't be able to walk and his mind will work only 30% as compared to a normal human mind.
To clarify more, you can think of it as if we don't get it treated or we undergo more surgeries at this stage, Zohan will become an abnormal kid but the urologists say if we get this treatment done successfully, there will be no need for any further operations. In, the USA everything can be cured in the early stages.
I will share any required documents with you all for any kind of proof. But do help me out in this cause. It is a life-and-death situation for my son. Anything would be a great help.
