Calcium blood test
Calcium is important because it is needed for strong bones. Your muscles, nerves and heart need calcium to work properly, while calcium also helps your blood to clot.
Cholesterol and lipid tests
A cholesterol (or lipid profile) test looks at the various levels of cholesterol and other fats in the blood.
Lipids and cholestrol are fat-like substances in the body. If you have high levels of these fats, you are more at risk of a heart attack or stroke.
C-reactive protein (CRP) blood test
The C-reactive protein (CRP) test is a blood test that checks for infection or inflammation in the body. It is used to detect the severity of inflammation or whether you are responding to treatment. It does not show where the inflammation is in your body.
D-dimer test
A D-dimer test is a blood test that checks for, or monitors, blood-clotting problems. A positive test means the D-dimer level in the body is higher than normal and suggests someone might have blood clots.
Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) test
The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) test checks for inflammation in the body. It is usually used along with other tests, as it doesn't indicate what is causing the inflammation, nor where it is.
Liver function tests
Liver function tests (also called LFTs) are blood tests that can provide information about how the liver is working. They test the levels of a number of proteins and enzymes that are either produced by liver cells or released into the blood when liver cells are damaged.
The liver is a large organ in the upper right of the abdomen and is necessary for many different functions. For example, it processes drugs and alcohol, filters toxic chemicals, stores vitamins and minerals, and makes bile, proteins and enzymes
