The chance of pregnancy from embryo transfer is largely dependent on the age of the woman when embryos are created. Procedures using eggs harvested from people age 35 or younger have the highest chances in resulting in a pregnancy. Over 95% of frozen embryos survive the thawing process. A study published earlier this year by researchers at Stanford University found that in women over 35 with high progesterone levels, frozen embryo transfers were more likely to result in an ongoing pregnancy than a fresh transfer.

Folliculogenesis is the process by which the female germ cell develops within the somatic cells of the o***y and matures into a fertilizable egg. The development of the follicle is complex and involves the integration of signals from multiple organ systems.
The goal of folliculogenesis is to produce a single dominant follicle from a pool of growing follicles. There are four major regulatory events involved in this process: recruitment, preantral follicle development, selection, and atresia.

IVF was first used in 1978 and now, more than 10 million babies worldwide have been born using the treatment – equating to between 1% and 6% of all babies born per year in the developed world by 2020.
IVF and other ART procedures are more common than they have ever been. 2,5 million IVF cycles are conducted, and around 500.000 IVF babies are born every year throughout the world. In the US, it’s estimated that 1.5% to 5% of all children being born every year were conceived through IVF. And in France, it’s estimated that one in 27 children were conceived through ART in 2020.
