Lichen Planus is a chronic skin condition that may involve the skin, nails and mucosa. It has different types. On the skin, lichen planus usually appears as purplish, itchy, flat bumps that develop over several weeks. In the mouth, lichen planus forms lacy white patches, sometimes with painful sores has association with mercury dental amalgem and betel nuts. Lichen planus has strong association with Hepatitis C but sometimes can also be triggered by certain vaccines and medicines. Lichen Planus is not contagious.
