The dynamic leadership of Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Vice Chancellor of University of Agriculture Faisalabad - Official, is fostering improved nutritional outcomes in Pakistan with the committed contributions and the dedicated leadership of the Pak-Korea Nutrition Center (PKNC).

The Clinical Dietitian Training Group of the PKNC UAF conducted a specialized training session for the 33rd and 34th batches of Agriculture Officers on the concluding day of the four-week professional capacity-building training program titled “Finance Administration Management and E-Governance organized by the Professional Training and Skill Development Centre (PTSD), Faculty of Social Sciences, at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad.

The initiative reflected the committed leadership of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif Randhawa Muhammad Randhawa, Central Project Director (CPD) of the Pak-Korea Nutrition Center, he is actively promoting efforts aimed at improving the nutrition status of children and communities across Pakistan through awareness, training, and outreach programs.

In the devoted supervision of Prof. Dr. Allah Rakha Rehman AR, the Master Trainers Mr. Ghayyor Sultan, Ms. Mehreen Abbas-Dietitian, and Mr. Mueez Aslam, delivered an informative lecture on healthy lifestyle practices and the importance of avoiding junk food to prevent malnutrition and ensure a healthier life.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ghayyor Sultan emphasized that unhealthy dietary patterns, particularly the excessive consumption of junk food rich in trans fats, refined sugars, and high sodium, significantly contribute to malnutrition, obesity, and various non-communicable diseases. He said, balanced diets consisting of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and protein-rich foods are essential for maintaining optimal health and preventing nutritional deficiencies. The Master Trainaers stressed that adopting healthy eating habits from an early age can significantly improve the nutritional well-being of individuals and communities.

The event was also attended by Dr. Neelam Chaudhary, Focal Person; Dr. Nazar Hussain, Training In-charge PTSD; Mr. Rana Muhammad Hamid Javed, Communication Officer, PKNC; Mr. Muhammad Abdullah Butt, Research Assistant, PKNC; Mr. Jabran Aslam, Training Assistant; and Mr. Muhammad Umair from the Professional Training and Skill Development Centre, who contributed to the successful conduct and coordination of the training activities.

In the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Vice Chancellor of University of Agriculture Faisalabad - Official (UAF), the Pak-Korea Nutrition Center (PKNC), UAF hosted the ongoing four-week professional capacity-building training program on Finance Administration Management and E-Governance for the 33rd and 34th batches of Agriculture Officers.

The training program is being organized by the Professional Training & Skill Development Centre (PTSD), Faculty of Social Sciences, at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, being held at the state-of-the-art facilities of the Pak-Korea Nutrition Center PKNC UAF.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif Randhawa Muhammad Randhawa, Central Project Director (CPD) of the Pak-Korea Nutrition Center (PKNC), UAF extended his warm greetings and best wishes to the Agriculture Officers for their professional growth and a bright future. He encouraged the officers to utilize the knowledge and skills gained during the training to serve the agriculture sector with dedication and innovation. During the session, Prof. Dr. Mian Kamran Sharif, Coordinator School Advisor Training Group, in comprehensive support from Mr. Mueez Aslam, Master Trainer, PKNC shared valuable insights into the initiatives of School Advisor Group aimed at training school teachers to promote healthy eating habits among school-going children. He elaborated on the practical learning approaches and hands-on experiences designed to build awareness about nutrition and healthy lifestyles in educational institutions.

In continuation of the program, Dr. Hina Hafeez and Ms. Sonia, Master Trainers of the Lady Health Workers (LHW) Training Group at PKNC, highlighted the activities of the LHW group working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Beenish Israr. They conducted informative sessions on critical nutrition themes, including Child Growth and Nutritional Assessment, Infant and Young Child Feeding (with emphasis on breastfeeding and complementary feeding).

The event was also attended by PKNC Master Trainers and officials including Dr. Roshina Rabail, Mr. Ghayyor Sultan, Ms. Mehreen Abbas-Dietitian, Mr. Rana Muhammad Hamid Javed, Communication Officer, PKNC, Dr. Neelam, Training Coordinator, PTSD, Dr. Nazar Hussain, Training In-charge PTSD, Mr. Usama Mughal, Mr. Ghulam Fareed, and Mr. Muhammad Umair, who contributed to the successful conduct of the training activities.

The Pak-Korea Nutrition Center remains unwavering in its mission to bridge the gap between theory and practice by creating hands-on learning opportunities, ensuring that learners transform academic knowledge into real-world skills for impactful community development.

A study tour was organized for students of the B.Sc. (Hons.) HND 6th semester enrolled in Food & Nutrition Entrepreneurship at the National Institute of Food Science and Technology, University of Agriculture Faisalabad - Official (UAF), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mian Kamran Sharif, Chair Product Development & Value Addition at the Pak-Korea Nutrition Center (PKNC).

The visit provided students with an opportunity to gain practical exposure to innovative food product development and nutrition-focused research initiatives. The participants were briefed on the ongoing initiatives of PKNC UAF and community outreach programs carried out in line with the vision of Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Vice Chancellor, UAF.

The PKNC UAF continues to strengthen its role as a catalyst for community nutrition wellbeing through impactful capacity-building initiatives under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Vice Chancellor of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad - Official (UAF).

The Food Fortification Chair at Pak Korea Nutrition Center University of Agriculture Faisalabad (PKNC), UAF has successfully organized one-day hands-on training/workshop titled “The Development of Fortified Breakfast Spreads”. The initiative was made through the gracious guidance of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif Randhawa Muhammad Randhawa, Central Project Director, PKNC, whose unwavering commitment to capacity building and nutrition innovation continues to strengthen the impact of PKNC. The workshop was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Moazzam Rafiq Khan Chair Food Fortification, PKNC, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asim Shabbir Co-chair Food Fortification, PKNC. The initiative aimed to enhance technical knowledge and practical skills related to the development and promotion of fortified, nutrient-rich breakfast foods in Pakistan.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif Randhawa, speaking as Chief guest highlighted the critical importance of fortified breakfast foods in addressing micronutrient deficiencies and improving public health outcomes. He noted that PKNC’s continued efforts are playing vital role for promoting healthier dietary options and strengthening Pakistan’s fight against malnutrition for a healthier future.

Prof. Dr. Moazzam Rafiq Khan appreciated the active engagement of participants. He added that such hands-on trainings are vital for transforming scientific knowledge into scalable food solutions. In a stride toward community wellbeing, the Pak-Korea Nutrition Center PKNC UAF, University of Agriculture Faisalabad - Official (UAF) continues to translate vision into action under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Vice Chancellor, UAF whose commitment to public health has positioned nutrition as a cornerstone of sustainable development. Working under this vision, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif Randhawa Muhammad Randhawa, Central Project Director of the PKNC, is steering impactful initiatives that bridge academic excellence with community needs.

Demonstrating this commitment on the ground, the Nutrition and Public Health Chair at PKNC, headed by Prof. Dr. Beenish Israr, has successfully completed a comprehensive field survey in Jund, a region with limited healthcare resources. The PKNC team collected detailed data from 50 pregnant and lactating mothers, focusing on dietary patterns, health indicators, and nutritional challenges. This evidence driven approach is expected to lay the foundation for targeted interventions aimed at improving maternal and child health outcomes.

The initiative carries particular significance as Tehsil Head Quarter Hospital Jund, currently struggling for a gynecology department, creating a critical service gap for women in the area. By stepping forward with research and community engagement, PKNC has taken a pioneering role in addressing these disparities.

The greater awareness, community education, and professional capacity building to address prevailing nutrition challenges in Pakistan is the first priority of PKNC UAF.

The Pak-Korea Nutrition Center (PKNC), University of Agriculture Faisalabad - Official (UAF), under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Vice Chancellor, UAF, is playing a transformative role in promoting community nutrition and public health across Pakistan. With the dedicated supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif Randhawa Muhammad Randhawa, Central Project Director, PKNC, the Center continues to expand its academic, research, and outreach initiatives for the nutritional wellbeing of society.

In continuation of this noble mission, Ms. Sonia, Master Trainer of Lady Health Worker Training group at PKNC, delivered a comprehensive lecture in a webinar titled “Infant and Young Child Feeding: A Foundation for Lifelong Health.” The webinar was organized by the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Ripha International University, Sahiwal Campus, and was attended by faculty members, students, and nutrition professionals.

Ms. Sonia emphasized that the first 1,000 days of life from conception to two years of age are critical for a child’s physical growth, brain development, and immunity. She highlighted the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, followed by timely and adequate complementary feeding along with continued breastfeeding up to two years. She explained that proper Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices significantly reduce the risk of malnutrition, stunting, micronutrient deficiencies, and infectious diseases.

The webinar also reflected the growing national importance of PKNC as a center of excellence in nutrition sciences. Through its research projects, food fortification initiatives, professional trainings, and community based interventions, PKNC has emerged as a leading institution contributing to academic excellence and policy support in the field of nutrition.
Sabiha Abbas, Head of the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics at Riphah International University, Sahiwal Campus, appreciated the valuable contribution of PKNC and Ms. Sonia’s informative session. She added, Infant and Young Child Feeding is the cornerstone of lifelong health, and today’s session has significantly enriched the knowledge of our students and professionals. The Lady Health Workers (LHWs) Training Group of the Pak-Korea Nutrition Center (PKNC), University of Agriculture Faisalabad - Official (UAF), organized two-day capacity-building training program for Lady Health Workers at the University of Narowal . The initiative was undertaken under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Vice Chancellor, UAF, was effectively led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif Randhawa Muhammad Randhawa, Central Project Director, PKNC.

The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of frontline health workers by addressing key nutrition themes, including Child Growth and Nutritional Assessment, Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) with special emphasis on breastfeeding and appropriate complementary feeding, Healthy Eating Practices at Home, and Food Safety and Hygiene. These thematic areas were carefully designed to equip participants with practical, evidence-based knowledge to improve maternal and child nutrition at the community level.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Dr. Muhammad Anwer, Registrar, University of Narowal; Dr. Muhammad Adnan, Chief Executive Officer Health, Narowal; and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq, Director Academics. Dr. Sabiha Abbas, Head of the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics/Food Science and Technology (RCRAHS), Riphah International University, Sahiwal Campus, carried an official visit to the Pak-Korea Nutrition Center PKNC UAF at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad - Official (UAF) to review its advanced research, training, and community outreach initiatives in the field of nutrition.

The Chair Food Fortification, Pak-Korea Nutrition Centre PKNC UAF, University of Agriculture Faisalabad - Official (UAF), is pleased to announce that One-Day Hands-On Training / Workshop titled:

“The Development of Fortified Breakfast Spreads”

This practical and skill-oriented training aims to enhance participants’ understanding and hands-on experience in the formulation and development of nutritionally fortified breakfast spreads, with a focus on food fortification, value addition, and public health nutrition.
