The 2nd day of ICDS-2026 continued with an engaging panel discussion on “Interprofessional Education in Wound Care: Gaps in Curriculum,” moderated by Dr Komal Atta, Director of Medical Education, UMDC Faisalabad.

Bringing together leading experts from medical education, surgery, nursing, and dermal sciences, the panel emphasized the urgent need for curriculum reform that promotes interdisciplinary training. Key discussions focused on bridging theory–practice gaps, integrating simulation-based learning, and strengthening interprofessional collaboration to improve patient care and outcomes.

The conference also featured a unique interdisciplinary session titled “Psychological, Cultural, and Narrative Dimensions of Wound and Scar,” where scholars from English Language and Literature and humanities explored trauma, identity, and representation through literature, media, and cultural narratives.

From digital shaming and patriarchal trauma to postcolonial identity, colorism, and narrative healing, students presented thought-provoking research that bridged science and the humanities, offering a powerful lens on how wounds—both physical and psychological—shape human experience.

The Young Researchers Session showcased innovative clinical work, including case reports, comparative studies on wound care, collagen-based dressings, and challenges in treating patients with Epidermolysis Bullosa and darker skin tones, highlighting the importance of inclusivity and evidence-based practice.

The conference concluded with a Poster Presentation Competition, celebrating outstanding contributions from both medical and humanities students. Winners from English Literature and MBBS programs were recognized for their interdisciplinary research excellence.

ICDS-2026 continues to reinforce a collaborative healthcare vision—where innovation, integration, and empathy come together to shape the future of wound care and skin repair.
