It’s a condition where the levator scapulae muscle — which runs from the upper neck to the shoulder blade — becomes tight, strained, or inflamed. It’s often caused by poor posture, especially from prolonged desk work, phone use, or stress.
🔍 Common Symptoms
- Persistent neck pain, especially on one side
- Stiffness when turning the head
- Shoulder blade discomfort or tightness
- Pain that worsens with stress or poor posture
- Possible headaches or tingling in the upper back

Today, we kickstarted our patient’s journey to recovery just hours after their total left hip replacement. Early mobilization is key to a successful outcome — and our patient is already making strides!
🔹 Goals for Day 1:
- Pain and swelling management
- Prevent post-op complications (DVT, stiffness)
- Begin safe mobility and functional independence
- Educate on hip precautions and safe movement strategies
🔹 Therapy Highlights:
- ✅ Ankle pumps, heel slides, quad and glute sets
- ✅ Bed mobility and transfer training
- ✅ First assisted walk with a walker — confidence is building!
- ✅ Reinforced no bending past 90°, no twisting, no crossing of leg

💡 Function:
This muscle is responsible for dorsiflexion (lifting your foot upward) and inverting the foot. It plays a crucial role in walking, running, and maintaining balance.
🏃‍♂️ Why It Matters:
Weakness in the tibialis anterior can lead to shin splints, foot drop, or poor gait mechanics. Strengthening it can improve performance and prevent injuries.
