To facilitate informed choices for patients seeking healthcare services, the Punjab Healthcare Commission has categorised hospitals into distinct zones according to their adherence to the Commission's minimum service delivery standards (MSDS). This zoning empowers patients to identify health facilities that meet established quality benchmarks, ensuring they receive the best possible care.

The zoning of hospitals by the Punjab Healthcare Commission will provide the consumers of health services with ample information about the quality of care available in the PHC-licensed hospitals. As a precursor to grading, zoning will augment efficiency, regulatory compliance and patient safety.
