What’s are the differences between inflammation and infection?
Infection generally has some aspects of inflammation because we get inflammation when we have Infection. BUT we can definitely get inflammation without infection.
If you had an injury such as a broken arm. You would get pain and swelling and not be able to move the joint. But this is NOT infection only the inflammatory process.

So as dentists we need to be experts of when we have inflammation and recommending anti-inflammatory medications and when there is active infection.

The signs of infection are- patient has a temperature, patient has lymphadenopathy, the patient has a feeling of malaise or feels generally unwell (NOT just has a sore tooth or gum!!!), the swelling is spreading far from the site of the problem. THIS IS WHEN YOU NEED TO INCISE DRAIN AND IN IMMUNOSUPPRESSED PATIENTS (maybe …maybe prescribe antibiotics)
If the infection is draining like in a sinus tract you DO NOT NEED TO PRESCRIBE ANTIBIOTICS. And you should never prescribe them for symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.

The signs of inflammation are

Swelling at the site of injury, Pain near the site of injury. Discomfort at the site of injury. No fever !
In these situations anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen are you best friend

منہ کے پٹھوں کا اکڑ جانا کہتے ہیں ۔آج اس بیماری کے علامات اور علاج کے بارے میں اپنے قارئین اور مریضوں کو کچھ بتانا چاہتاہوں
اس بیماری میں مبتلا مریض کا منہ کم کھلتا ہے ،کھانا منہ میں ڈالنے اور چبانے میں مشکل ہوتی ہے ۔منہ کے اندر جلن اور بار بار زِِخم السر اور جبڑوں میں درد کی شکایت ہوتی ہے
یہ علامات بغیر درد کے یا درد کے ساتھ ظاہر ہوتی ہیں

وجوہات:
اس بیماری کی وجہ منہ میں چھالیا ، پان ، تمباکو کا کئی سالوں سے منہ میں رکھنے کی عادت ہے

منہ کا معائنہ کرنے پر ایسے مریضوں کے گال کے اندرونی جانب سفید رنگ کی سخت لائنیں نظر اتی ہیں جو حلق تک پھیلی ہوتی ہیں ۔ دانتوں پر تمباکو پان وغیرہ کے نشان نظر اتے ہیں زبان کی حرکت میں کمی ہوتی ہے نارمل لوگوں کا منہ 30mm- 40mm تک کھلتا ہے لیکن ان مریضوں کا منہ 25mm یا اس سےکم تک کھلتا ہے ۔گھٹکے میں مبتلا شخص کے منہ میں تھوک ذیادہ بنتا جس سے وہ ہر جگہ تھوکتا ریتا ہے جس سے گندگی پھیلتی ہے ۔ان مریضوں میں
منہ کے کینسر کے امکانات زیادہ ہوتے ہیں
ڈاکٹر انہیں فوری طور پر تمباکو،چھالیا ،پان کو چبانے کی عادت ترک کرنے کا مشورہ دیتے ہیں اور منہ کھولنے والیexcercise بتاتے ہیں منہ بلکل نہ کھلنے کی صورت میں میڈیسن کےساتھ سرجری کی بھی ضرورت پڑ سکتی ہے ۔لہذا پان چھالیہ اور گھٹکا کا استعمال ترک کردیں۔یہ ایک عادت بن چکی ہے چس سے نوجوان مبتلا ہیں ۔ گوادر میں روزانہ اس شکایت کے ساتھ نوجوان مریض آتے ہیں ۔جن کو بچیں سے چھالیہ وغیرہ چھبانے کی عادت ہے ۔ مندرجہ بالا علامات آور شکایت کی صورت میں ۔گھٹکا پان اور چھالیہ کا استعمال ترک کردیں اور ڈاکٹر سے اپنے منہ کا چیک اپ
