Nothing better than seeing students actually get their hands dirty in the lab.
Our students at Isra College of Pharmacy were busy prepping Crystal Violet stain;the one used in Gram staining to differentiate between Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Takes focus, takes patience, and yeah, a steady hand.

Pharmacy's not just about counting pills. It's about this too.

That's how future pharmacists are made!
Our students at ISRA College of Pharmacy are at work, preparing an orange syrup; using orange peel tincture, citric acid, talcum powder, and sucrose in precise standard quantities. From understanding formulations to mastering the science behind each ingredient, it's all about hands 🙌🏻 on learning here.
This is where theory meets the real deal.

Second Professional PharmD students at **Isra College of Pharmacy** performed a laboratory practical in the subject **Dosage Form Science**, where they prepared **Peppermint Spirit** using peppermint oil (2 ml), ethanol (20 ml), and talc (0.1 g) as a clarifying agent. The activity focused on accurate measurement, proper mixing, and filtration techniques to obtain a clear aromatic preparation. The practical was conducted under the supervision of Dr Iqra Memon, providing students with hands-on experience in pharmaceutical compounding and formulation.

Our second professional year , Pharm-D students are on their mission ,as they prepare ferrous sulfate syrup. The syrup includes ferrous sulfate, sucrose, citric acid, peppermint spirit, and water. Sucrose is dissolved in water, while citric acid and ferrous sulfate are ground into fine powders and mixed in. Peppermint spirit is added for flavor, and the syrup is then transferred into a labeled container.
Can't deny that pharmacist needs a practical work.

Hands-on learning in the Pharmacognosy Lab! 3rd Prof. Pharm-D students carried out Paper Chromatography to separate and identify components of a mixture. The practical demonstrated how different compounds in a mixture move at different rates with the solvent on chromatography paper, resulting in their separation into distinct spots. This experiment helped students understand the basic principle of chromatographic separation and the calculation of Rf values, strengthening practical knowledge in pharmacognosy. 🔬🥼

Students of 3rd year PharmD program of Isra University performed lab and did the following experiment by Evaluating the mineral purity of Mangifera indica. 🥭✨ Ash content analysis allows us to detect any inorganic impurities or adulterants in our Mango leaf samples. Quality control is the bridge between nature and medicine. 🔬🌡️

Our second-year pharmacy students took a hands-on approach to learning microscopy!
Under the guidance of Dr. Norin memo, they prepared a powder slide to explore the microscopic characteristics of a powdered drug. They carefully selected the powder, sprinkled it onto a slide, and added a mounting medium. Then, they adjusted the microscope to get a clear view of the powder's unique features.

By doing this practical, our students are developing essential skills in microscopy and understanding the importance of accurate slide preparation.

Think Health, Think Pharmacist.
This powerful message truly came alive at Isra College of Pharmacy during our Pharmacy Day, organized in collaboration with the students activity and Athletics Department of Isra University.
It was heartwarming to hear a visiting student from PUMHS share her experience of the event. She appreciated the thoughtful panel discussion, the creativity behind the research posters, and the fresh ideas that students confidently presented. Her words reflected exactly what we aim for ...learning beyond classrooms, meaningful discussions, and growth through collaboration.
Moments like these remind us that pharmacy is not just about medicines; it’s about responsibility, innovation, and caring for the health of our communities.
We are proud of our students, our faculty, and every participant who made this day memorable.

In this experiment, 3rd Professional Pharm D students performed the Determination of Foaming Index of Ginger (Zingiber officinale) and Reetha (Sapindus mukorossi) in the Pharmacognosy lab to evaluate the presence of saponins and understand their surface-active properties.

To determine the foaming index of crude drugs and assess saponin content by observing the ability to produce stable foam.

Foaming Test:
Persistent foam of 1 cm height after shaking and standing for 15 minutes indicates the presence of saponins.

Observation:
Reetha showed significant and stable foam formation, confirming its high saponin content.
Ginger exhibited minimal foam, indicating low or negligible saponin content.

Understanding crude drugs through practical evaluation strengthens foundation in natural product analysis.
