Breakfast at Xander’s — honest thoughts

Tried breakfast at Xander’s recently and here’s my honest take.

The ambience was really nice — calm, comfortable, and perfect if you want a relaxed start to the day.

What I ordered:

🥚 Chicken Mushroom Omelet — Rs. 1460 (9/10)

Honestly, this was really good. Creamy, flavorful, and easily the best thing I ordered. Would definitely get this again.

🥚 Pakistani Omelet — Rs. 1190 (7/10)

It was decent and enjoyable, but pretty average compared to the chicken mushroom omelet.

☕ Doodh Patti — Rs. 490 (5/10)

Just okay. Nothing bad, but it could definitely be better especially, for dhaba chai lovers like me.

🍞 Crème Brûlée French Toast — Rs. 1120 (8/10)

Soft, nicely done, and the caramelized sugar on top was a nice touch. Overall, a good option.

One suggestion:

For a place this size, there’s only one small washroom, which felt a bit inconvenient for people. Having separate washrooms for men and women would make the experience much better.

Overall:

Nice ambience, food with some hits and some misses.
I’d happily go back, mainly for the chicken mushroom omelet.

I recently visited *Eggspectation Café - Islamabad* hoping for a hearty and satisfying brunch experience. While the ambiance and service were welcoming, the food was a bit of a mixed bag with some items leaving a lot to be desired and one standout saving the day.

1. Chicken Benedict – 6/10
This dish had potential on paper, two perfectly poached Omega-3 eggs on grilled chicken and Gruyère over a toasted English muffin, topped with their signature hollandaise. Unfortunately, the ex*****on missed the mark. The chicken was noticeably oily, which overpowered the rest of the flavors. While the eggs were cooked well, the overall taste was just average, and not something I’d rush to order again. The accompanying Lyonnaise-style potatoes were decent but didn’t elevate the dish.

2. Southwest Sunrise Omelette – 5/10
This omelette, filled with cheddar, Swiss, Gruyère, and sautéed peppers, sounded like a flavor-packed option. However, the omelette itself was quite dry, and the flavor was underwhelming despite the rich ingredients. Again, it landed squarely in the "average" category, and not something memorable.

3. Green Light Juice – 9/10
This was the surprise star of the meal. A fresh blend of baby spinach, apple, ginger, and mint, the Green Light juice was both delicious and refreshing. Perfectly balanced between sweet and zesty, it offered a clean, energizing complement to the heavier breakfast dishes.

**Overall Verdict**
Eggspectation Café has a great concept and a diverse menu, but based on my visit, the ex*****on of some of their dishes could use improvement. While the mains felt uninspired and a bit greasy or dry, the juice bar is definitely worth checking out. With a few tweaks, the food could live up to the promise of the menu.

Special Tandoori Chai in the heart of Beautiful Skardu- a mix of tea, coffee (yes coffee you read it correctly 😋), and flavourful nuts. That tea was really special as you get flavours of both tea and coffee with a pinch of your favourite nuts and cream, simply loved it!

Heard a lot about secret sky so we thought to check it out. It was super crowded when we went which made us believe that it must be a great place for foodies. Ambience was pretty cool with all the lights and swings etc. It was a pretty amazing spot to hang out. Food we found was pretty average, not very much impressed with the taste and uniqueness in terms of the menu.
Presentation: 8/10
Taste: 5/10
We found people enjoying taking pictures as ambience was nice but we really wished that food would be equally amazing and tasteful.

Isloo's weather was so amazing yesterday that we couldnt resist and went for a long drive towards Murree. On Murree expressway, we found new restaurants opened including Chai Khana, Manolo Gelato, OPTP but one new name caught our attention on the right side of the road called Chai Cup and Gup Shup. It was lit with colourful lights/shades with play area for kids so we thought to stop by and check their menu.
To our surprise, their menu was quite elaborate as you can see in the picture and surprisingly, everything was available otherwise, in some of the restaurants you ask for certain items in their menu and they say "sorry ma'am/sir, its unavailable".
Ambience: It was quite amazingly decorated. Ample indoor space for family dinners or get together but unfortunately, due to Covid indoor option wasn't available and fairly so. Outdoor, they have very limited seating space. Based on our request, the Manager and staff were kind enough to make a seating arrangement of 4 with heaters outside as it was quite a cold night.
Cleanliness: Extra marks for cleanliness as usually at such places, washrooms arent clean but they were maintaining it very well with a sweeper on standby who continuosly was cleaning the area once used. I hope that they dont lose the extra marks after several months/years and comtinue to keep the area clean. Also, In Murree most of places do not have warm water in their washrooms so when you're already feeling cold, the cold water just freezes you up. To our surprise, the water was warm, not too much but warm enough not to make you a snowman/woman.
Finally comes the Food, oh my oh my, It exceeded our expectations so yeah highly recommended 💯💯.

Food was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed every bit and had a great experience in amazing weather, with delicious food, superb ambience & beautiful view at night 🌃❤️🤩

Ok so there was a lot of hype about .bakeshop and their desserts but since I'm from Islamabad, so it took a bit longer to try out what they offer and they totally met in fact exceeded my expectations in certain cases. The sweetness and freshness of their cakes n cupcakes are amazing. Highly recommended for those who haven't tried them yet!! Plus they are very economical so you can go almost every other day, try out something new and do let us know your favorites. At least that's what I did during my stay 😉😉

Had an amazing breakfast at this newly introduced chic cafe named, The Ivy Cafe, located in G-5/2, Diplomatic Enclave, Islamabad

Praline French Toast was simply amazinggg no matter how many g's I put in there, it doesn't justify the awesomeness we had. Enjoyed every bite of it ❣️. I Would definitely go back there to indulge myself in that sweet heaven.
Spanish Omelette was great too. It had distinct flavours in that colorful plate which not only makes you dive deep into it but you also enjoy the variety of delicious side options given.
Best thing is that they offer all day breakfast so all the breakfast lovers can go there at any time.

How can you miss local food while travelling. We have tried pizza at this local dhaba-like eatery with minimum expectations but voila, it has exceeded all. One of the most delicious pizzas we have ever had with no exaggeration at Pizvaan, near Passu Cones, Hunza, GB

The pizza was extraordinarily delicious, and exceeded our expectations. All the flavours burst into the mouth and tantalized the taste buds. We didn’t want to stop until our stomachs begged for it. Must try if you travel there or are a local and haven’t explored it yet.
