Pakistan’s Street Child Football Team Set to Conquer Mexico City in the 2026 World Cup
The well-renowned Pakistan Street Child Football Team, managed by Muslim Hands, has officially begun its final countdown to the Street Child Football World Cup (SCWC) 2026 in Mexico City.
Set to take place in May 2026, just weeks ahead of the FIFA World Cup, this global event will see young Pakistani athletes compete on an international stage against 30 teams from across the globe. The tournament is not just about football; it is a youth-led movement for rights, protection, and identity for street-connected children worldwide. The Journey to Mexico following their historic silver-medal finish at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and several podium finishes in international youth cups, Team Pakistan enters the 2026 tournament as one of the heavy favorites.
The team is represented by Muslim Hands, an organization dedicated to providing education and social change through sports. Beyond the pitch, the team will participate in a General Assembly at the United Nations, advocating for fundamental rights such as legal identity (birth certificates), protection from violence, and access to education.
The 2026 edition in Mexico City is expected to be the most inclusive yet, featuring expanded tournaments for street-connected boys and girls. The "Green Shirts" have become a symbol of hope in Pakistan, proving that talent knows no social boundaries. The squad is currently undergoing rigorous training camps to adapt to the high-altitude conditions of Mexico City.
"Our children are not just players; they are ambassadors of Pakistan’s resilience," said a spokesperson for Muslim Hands. "In Mexico, they will stand up and declare to the world: 'I AM SOMEBODY.'
