علی دبئی میں ایک چھوٹے سے اسٹور پر کام کرتا تھا۔ دن بھر محنت کے بعد جو تنخواہ ملتی، اس میں سے کچھ وہ اپنے اخراجات کے لیے رکھتا اور باقی اپنے گاؤں میں موجود بوڑھے ماں باپ کو بھیج دیتا۔ زندگی کی سادگی اور پریشانیوں کے بیچ اس نے کبھی خواب بھی نہ دیکھا تھا کہ اس کی قسمت کوئی انوکھا موڑ لے گی۔

بو علی سینا (980ء - 1037ء) ایک عظیم مسلم فلسفی، طبیب، اور سائنسدان تھے، جنہوں نے طب، فلسفہ، منطق، فلکیات اور دیگر سائنسی علوم میں نمایاں خدمات انجام دیں۔ ان کا پورا نام ابوعلی حسین بن عبداللہ ابن سینا تھا اور وہ بخارا (موجودہ ازبکستان) میں پیدا ہوئے۔ انہیں مغرب میں Avicenna کے نام سے جانا جاتا ہے۔
