7 Mistakes You’re Making With Your Contact Lens Case
1. You don’t wash your hands before touching your contact lens case.
2. You don’t wash your case after every use (or at all).
3. Whenever you do wash out your case, you use tap water instead of contact lens solution
4. You don’t buy a new contact lens case every three months
5. You top off the old solution in your case instead of squirting in fresh liquid every time
6. To try to extend how long you can use your contacts, you store old ones in your case with fresh solution
7. You keep your case in the bathroom instead of in a less humid environment..

Good eye health starts with the food on your plate. Nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, lutein, zinc, and vitamins C and E might help ward off age-related vision problems like macular degeneration and cataracts. To get them, fill your plate with:
Green leafy vegetables
Salmon, tuna, and other oily fish
Eggs, nuts, beans, and other nonmeat protein sources
Oranges and other citrus fruits or juices
Remember, a well-balanced diet also helps you stay at a healthy weight. That lowers your odds of obesity and related diseases like type 2 diabetes, which is the leading cause of blindness in adults.

Doctors think several strategies may be helpful in preventing Cataracts, including:
1. Have regular eye examinations. Eye examinations can help detect cataracts and other eye problems at their earliest stages.
2. Quit smoking. Ask your doctor for suggestions about how to stop smoking. Medications, counseling and other strategies are available to help you.
3. Follow your treatment plan if you have diabetes or other medical conditions that can increase your risk of cataracts.
4. Choose a healthy diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables. Adding a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables to your diet ensures that you're getting many vitamins and nutrients. Fruits and vegetables have many antioxidants, which help maintain the health of your eyes.
5. Wear sunglasses. Ultraviolet light from the sun may contribute to the development of cataracts. Wear sunglasses that block ultraviolet B (UVB) rays when you're outdoors.

You blink 4 million times a year. Specifically, you blink a total of 4,200,000 times a year on average. That’s 12,000 times a day!

Signs & Symptoms of Cataract:
-Clouded, blurred or dim vision
-Increasing difficulty with vision at night
-Sensitivity to light and glare
-Need for brighter light for reading and other activities
-Seeing "halos" around lights
-Frequent changes in eyeglass or contact lens prescription
-Fading or yellowing of colors
-Double vision in a single eye
At first, the cloudiness in your vision caused by a cataract may affect only a small part of the eye's lens and you may be unaware of any vision loss. As the cataract grows larger, it clouds more of your lens and distorts the light passing through the lens. This may lead to more-noticeable symptoms

What is a Cataract? A cataract is a clouding of the normally clear lens of the eye. For people who have cataracts, seeing through cloudy lenses is a bit like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. Clouded vision caused by cataracts can make it more difficult to read, drive a car (especially at night) or see the expression on people's faces.

Avoid Street Food:
Street food, freshly cut fruits and other kinds of food items sold on the street should strictly be avoided. The road is usually filled with potholes full of water and mud. These form perfect incubators for various kinds of harmful microorganisms. The longer the food items are exposed to the open air, the higher they are likely to become home to them. So, whenever you eat your favourite junk food, you are more likely to contract a disease.

Most people who experience detachment are over the age of 40. But remember, retinal detachment can occur at age. Therefore, you shouldn't decide not to see a doctor because you're under the age of 40 if you're experiencing symptoms. If you sustain blunt force trauma to the eye, this can also cause retinal detachment.

What is Retinal Detachment?
Retinal detachment describes an emergency situation in which a thin layer of tissue (the retina) at the back of the eye pulls away from its normal position
Retinal detachment itself is painless. But warning signs almost always appear before it occurs:
1. The sudden appearance of many floaters — tiny specks that seem to drift through your field of vision
2. Flashes of light in one or both eyes (photopsia)
3. Blurred vision
4. Gradually reduced side vision
5. A curtain-like shadow over your visual field
When to see a doctor?
Seek immediate medical attention if you are experiencing the signs or symptoms of retinal detachment. Retinal detachment is a medical emergency in which you can permanently lose your vision.

What are Floaters?
These are tiny spots or specks that float across your field of vision. Most people notice them in well-lit rooms or outdoors on a bright day.
Floaters are usually normal, but they sometimes can be a sign of a more serious eye problem, like retinal detachment. That’s when the retina at the back of your eye separates from the layer underneath. When this happens, you might also see light flashes along with the floaters or a dark shadow come across the edge of your sight.
If you notice a sudden change in the type or number of spots or flashes you see or a new dark “curtain" in your peripheral vision, go to your eye doctor as soon as possible

Myth: Eating carrots will improve your vision.
Fact: Vitamin A is essential for the body to maintain healthy eyesight and carrots have high amounts of this nutrient. Remember to eat vitamin A-rich foods together with fat to better absorb the benefits
