Life-Saving Dual Surgery at SHED Hospital 🤗
A Rare Case in a 40-Day-Old Infant
Doctors at SHED Hospital, Karachi, successfully performed two major life-saving surgeries on a 40-day-old baby born with rare birth defects.
*The Baby’s Condition:*
*Imperforate A**s* : The baby had no natural a**l opening, and the intestine was abnormally connected to the ge***al tract.
*Large Encephalocele:* A part of the brain and its covering was protruding outside the skull.
*Other Challenges:* The child also had a single right kidney and hip joint abnormality, making the case even more complex.
*The Dual Surgery*
Despite the risks, surgeons operated on both conditions in one sitting under general anaesthesia:
A colostomy was performed to divert stool safely.
The encephalocele was removed, and the skull area was reconstructed.
