August 2022:

Pakistan Endocrine Society (PES) launched the Pakistan Diabetes Prevention Program (Pak-DPP) to combat the rising prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) in Pakistan. The program aims to implement effective prevention strategies through awareness drives, primary care interventions, and screening for pre-diabetics. The Pak-DPP steering committee, consisting of prominent endocrinologists, presented the rationale, achievable goals, and methodology of the program. The initiative is expected to reduce the burden of diabetes in Pakistan by providing free lifestyle interventions, dietary advice, and follow-up care for individuals at risk of developing T2DM.
