Ankle sprain occurs frequently in the sports population. It is caused by the stretching of fibres or of the collagen of the ankle ligaments, whereby the fibres are partially or completely disrupted .Most sports activities involve running, jumping and turning, high stresses are often put on the joints of the lower limbs, including the ankle.

Ankle sprains range in severity from grade I to grade III.

I: partial tear Mild tenderness and swelling of a ligament

II: incomplete tear of Moderate pain and swelling a ligament, with Mild to moderate ecchymosis

III: complete tear and Severe swelling (more than 4 cm about the fibula) loss of integrity of Severe ecchymosis
