Planter Fasciitis

👣Rehabilitation of Planter Fasciitis:

➡️Rest
➡️Ice
➡️UST or Shock therapy.
➡️Soft Heal pads or Silicone Pads.
➡️ Massage.
➡️ K-Tapping.
➡️Exercise.

Exercise:

👣Gastrocnemius Muscle Stretch:

➡️Place your hands flat against a wall and position one foot in front of the other (with the affected foot back), keeping your toes pointing forward toward the wall.

➡️ Straighten your back leg and lean into the wall by bending your front knee while keeping both heels planted on the floor. Your weight should rest on your front leg, and you should feel a stretch in your heel and calf of your back leg.

➡️ Hold for 60 seconds and repeat three times. Perform this set three times daily

👣Soleus Muscle Stretch:

1️⃣Place the affected foot slightly behind your healthy foot.

2️⃣ Bend both knees and sink down toward the ground while keeping both heels planted on the floor. You will feel a stretch in the back of your affected foot, just above the heel.

3️⃣ Hold for 60 seconds and repeat 3 times. Perform this set three times daily.

👣Achilles/Gastrocnemius Stretch:

1️⃣While standing upright, place the ball of your affected foot on a step so your heel hangs off the back slightly.

2️⃣Carefully lower the heels down until you feel a stretch.

3️⃣Repeat the motion of dipping and then elevating your heels for 30 seconds and do three sets.

👣Plantar Fascia Stretch:

1️⃣While sitting down with your affected leg extended out in front of you, loop an elastic therapy band around the ball of your foot.

2️⃣Use the band to pull your toes up toward your nose, keeping leg on the ground. You should feel a stretch on the bottom of your foot and back of your heel.

3️⃣Hold for 60 seconds and repeat three times. Perform this stretch when you first wake up in the morning, before getting out of bed, to improve plantar fasciitis pain associated with the first few steps in the morning.

👣Towel Toe Curls:

1️⃣ Sit on a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Place a towel on the ground, and use your toes to grasp the center of the towel. Scrunch the towel with your toes and release, relaxing your feet (do not move the towel toward your body).

2️⃣Repeat 10 times. Perform this set 3 times daily.

👣Plantar Fascia Massage:

1️⃣Firmly roll a small massage ball back and forth across the bottom of your arch and heel.

2️⃣You can also do this with a frozen water bottle, which will ice your arch simultaneously.

3️⃣Perform for 5 minutes. Do this three times daily.

👣Toe Extensions:

1️⃣Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, then place one foot ahead of the other.

2️⃣Contract the calf muscles of only your back leg while lifting your heel on the same leg until your toes are maximally extended.

3️⃣Repeat 15 times. Try five sets daily.

What is knee Osteoarthritis?????How we can diagnose and manage it?
Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis in the knee. It is a degenerative, “wear-and-tear" type of arthritis that occurs most often in people 50 years of age and older, although it may occur in younger people, too (post traumatic). The knee is the largest and strongest and weight bearing joint of the body. It is made up of the femur (thighbone), the tibia (shinbone), and the patella (kneecap). The ends of the three bones that form the knee joint are covered with articular cartilage, a smooth, slippery substance that protects and cushions the bones as you bend and straighten your knee. In osteoarthritis, the cartilage in the knee joint gradually wears away. As the cartilage wears away, it becomes frayed and rough, and the protective space between the bones decreases. This can result in bone rubbing on bone, and produce painful bone spurs.
Sign and symptoms of knee Osteoarthritis are:
• Pain upon movement (A knee joint affected by arthritis may be painful and inflamed. Generally, the pain develops gradually over time, although sudden onset is also possible).
• Stiffness, particularly early morning stiffness
• Loss of range of movement(patients unable to move their joint in full range)
• Pain after prolonged sitting or lying especially on awaking
• Pain on touching the joint line
• The joint may become stiff and Swollen, making it difficult to bend and straighten
• Many people with arthritis note increased joint pain with changes in the weather.

Arthritis in Knee: 4 Stages of Osteoarthritis
• Stage 0 – Normal. When the knee shows no signs of osteoarthritis, it is classified as Stage 0, which is normal knee health, with no known impairment or signs of joint damage. ...
• Stage 1 – Minor.(No treatment required only healthy active lifestyle)
• Stage 2 – Mild. .this is the stage where people may first begin experiencing symptoms, such as pain stiffness tenderness after long day of walking or running. Treatment required at this stage is non pharmacological (means no need to take medicine for pain management) physical therapy, exercises, healthy life style can improve your condition.
• Stage 3 – Moderate. In this stage, the cartilage between bones shows obvious damage, and the space between the bones begins to narrow. In this stage Patient may experience frequent pain when walking, running, bending, or kneeling. They may also experience joint stiffness after sitting for long periods of time or when waking up in the morning. Treatment required at this stage are NSAIDs or acetaminophen and glucocorticoids drugs (injected into the joints) and physical therapy can improve patient’s condition.
• Stage 4 – Severe .In this stage patient experience sever pain stiffness and discomfort while walking, in sitting or in standing,
• Treatment choice at this stage is surgery(knee replacement).
• Imaging Tests
• X-rays.
• (MRI) or CT scan
• And blood tests to see type of arthritis.
Treatment
There is no cure for arthritis but there are a number of treatments that may help relieve the pain and disability it can cause.
Nonsurgical Treatment or surgical treatment depends upon the stage (0-4)of Arthritis.

⚠️Median Nerve Neuropathy

ℹ️Distal median nerve dysfunction
Distal median nerve dysfunction is a form of peripheral neuropathy that affects the movement of or sensation in the hands.

A common type of distal median nerve dysfunction is carpal tunnel syndrome.

🔴Causes
Dysfunction of one nerve group, such as the distal median nerve, is called a mononeuropathy. Mononeuropathy means there is a local cause of the nerve damage. Diseases affecting the entire body (systemic disorders) can also cause isolated nerve damage.

This condition occurs when the nerve is inflamed, trapped, or injured by trauma. The most common reason is trapping (entrapment). Trapping puts pressure on the nerve where it passes through a narrow area. Wrist fractures may injure the median nerve directly. Or, it may increase the risk for trapping the nerve later on.

Inflammation of the tendons (tendonitis) or joints (arthritis) can also put pressure on the nerve. Some repetitive movements increase the chance of developing carpal tunnel entrapment. Women are more affected than men.

Problems that affect the tissue near the nerve or cause deposits to form in the tissue can block blood flow and lead to pressure on the nerve. Such conditions include:

➡️Too much growth hormone in the body (acromegaly)
➡️Diabetes
➡️Underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)
➡️Kidney disease
➡️Blood cancer called multiple myeloma
➡️Pregnancy
➡️Obesity

➡️In some cases, no cause can be found. Diabetes can make this condition worse.

ℹ️Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a compression of the median nerve in the wrist, which can cause pain and numbness in the hand. Certain hand exercises can help relieve pressure on the median nerve and alleviate symptoms

🔴Symptoms
Symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome can include:

➡️numbness or tingling sensation in the fingers, particularly the index, middle, and ring fingers and the thumb
➡️symptoms occurring or worsening at night
➡️weakness in the hand leading to the loss of grip strength, making holding objects or carrying out everyday tasks more difficult
➡️in severe cases, inability to feel hot or cold temperatures with the hand

🔴Exercises

➡️Wrist extension
➡️Wrist Flexion
➡️Median Nerve Glide
➡️Tendon Glide
➡️Wrist lift
➡️Hand Squeeze
➡️Wrist Stretch
