Some numbers that should make all of us stop and think: More than 1 billion people worldwide are living with a mental health condition. 1 in every 7 people on earth is affected by a mental disorder. 300 million people globally live with depression. 301 million people live with anxiety disorders. Mental illness costs the world $1 trillion in lost productivity every single year. 24 million people in Pakistan need psychiatric help right now. Pakistan has only 0.19 psychiatrists per 100,000 people, one of the lowest in the world. 50% of Pakistani university students are experiencing depressive symptoms. Only 0.4% of Pakistan's health budget is allocated to mental health
In our society, we take medicine for a fever without hesitation. We manage blood pressure openly. But when the mind suffers, we hide it. We stay silent. We call it weakness. It is not a weakness. It is a real condition. And it has a real cure.
