Newcastle Disease In Poultry
👉Newcastle Disease (ND) is a highly contagious viral disease that affects poultry, including chickens, turkeys, and other domestic and wild birds. The virus is transmitted through direct contact with infected birds, contaminated equipment, or f***l matter.
👉ND is characterized by respiratory and nervous system symptoms, such as coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, and twisting of the neck. In severe cases, birds may show signs of paralysis, leading to high mortality rates.
👉Prevention of Newcastle Disease is important, as it is highly contagious and can spread quickly through a flock. Vaccination is the most effective method for preventing ND. 👉Vaccines are available in both live and inactivated forms, and are administered either by injection or through drinking water. Biosecurity measures such as limiting visitors, disinfecting equipment and facilities, and practicing good hygiene are also important in preventing the spread of the disease.
If you suspect that your poultry is affected by ND, it is important to isolate sick birds and contact a veterinarian for proper diagnosis and treatment. In some cases, euthanasia may be necessary to prevent the spread of the disease to other birds.
