𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐌𝐀𝐒 𝐂𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐀𝐓 𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐕𝐒

𝐌𝐫. 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐍𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐫, Christian Employee of SIOVS, commemorated Christmas at the Sindh Institute of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences - SIOVS, Hyderabad, on 24th December 2025.

On this occasion, the Reception Area of the Office of the Executive Director was decorated with a Christmas tree and festive ornaments. The ceremony formally commenced with a cake-cutting ceremony led by 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐊𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝 𝐈𝐪𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐩𝐮𝐫, 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐕𝐒, with Mr. Samuel Nazir and his family in the presence of SIOVS staff members.

SIOVS continues to encourage activities that promote interfaith harmony, inclusivity, and a culture of mutual respect within the institution.

The Department of Ophthalmology, HMC successfully held the OSP CPC on 19th December. The CPC started with case examinations at the OPD of the Department of Ophthalmology, HMC, where cases were carefully selected by the faculty of Eye HMC. I extend my sincere gratitude to all the esteemed guests, respected seniors, colleagues, residents, and fellows for their active participation. The academic session formally began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Yousaf Jamal Mahsood, Chairperson, Department of Ophthalmology, HMC, followed by case presentations by the residents of ophthalmology department HMC and insightful case discussions. The program concluded with valuable concluding remarks by President-Elect OSP, Prof. Muhammad Tariq Khan, and a vote of thanks by General Secretary OSP, Dr. Nuzahat Rahil. Special thanks to Director PICO, Prof. Sanaullah Jan, for providing excellent audio-visual support.

𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶

On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, a delegation from Vision Trust, Karachi, led by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝘇𝗵𝗮𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗻 (𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿), visited the Sindh Institute of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences (SIOVS) Hyderabad, Pakistan, to explore opportunities for collaboration between 𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗩𝗦 and 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁.

The delegation visited various sections and units of the Institute and observed the fully functional and busy 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗣𝗮𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗢𝗽𝗵𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰, 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗢𝗽𝗵𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 & 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆, including the 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗢𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 and 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝘆.

A detailed meeting was held with Prof. Dr. Khalid Iqbal Talpur, 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗩𝗦, in the Conference Room. Prof. Talpur delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the Institute’s infrastructure, equipment, human resources, and academic achievements, with special emphasis on the launch of the 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗕𝗦 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺. He also highlighted the 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗲𝘆𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 led by 𝗠𝗿. 𝗝𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗹 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗮𝗷𝗽𝗲𝗿, 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 along with his team.

On this occasion, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗡𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗺 𝗥𝗮𝗷𝗮𝗻𝗶 (𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁) and 𝗠𝗿. 𝗔𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿 𝗛𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗻 (𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿) from the 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶, were also present at the meeting upon the invitation of Prof. Talpur.

The delegation highly appreciated 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝗜𝗾𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗽𝘂𝗿 and his team for their dedicated efforts in developing SIOVS into a leading centre for teaching, training, research, and the provision of quality eye care services, particularly for underserved and far-flung communities across 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲.

Mr.Tariq Faridi of ISIS Pharma who was the only Pharma Industry executive present at janaza of Prof M.Mukhtar Ahmad describes him as a legend of ophthalmology who left us and he was the pioneer of Vitreoretinal Surgry in Pakistan who served ophthalmology for a very long era and he also trained many ophthalmologists by his great guidelines. In last era of his life he started charity work at Nawabshah by name of Erwo Eye Hospital and his will was to burry him in ERWO Hospital Nawabshah.

Prof Khalid Iqbal Talpur Executive Director SIOVS Hyderabad as National Coordinator of Pakistan's Blindness Control Program with Prof Asad Aslam Khan as Chairman Trachoma Task Force in the Eastern Mediterranean Region meeting of the International Association for Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
