ankle foot orthosis (AFO) is a custom-made brace or splint that fits over the foot, ankle, and part of the leg to help with a variety of issues.

Stabilization: AFOs help stabilize the ankle and foot, which is important for balance and weight distribution.
Range of motion: AFOs can control the range of motion in the ankle and foot.
Pain relief: AFOs can help reduce pain.
Deformity prevention: AFOs can help prevent or improve deformities.
Mobility: AFOs can help increase mobility and independence.
Rehabilitation: AFOs can assist with rehabilitation.
AFOs are used to treat a variety of conditions, including:
Muscle weakness, Joint instability, High muscle tone, Arthritis, Ankle and foot fractures, Cerebral palsy, Multiple sclerosis, Polio, Diabetes, and Stroke.
AFOs come in different styles and types, including hinged, rigid, and flexible
