Today, we had a fantastic pre-camp training session for our volunteers in preparation for the upcoming Mental Health Screening and Awareness Camp on the 27th and 28th of September.

During this session, we discussed the importance and purpose of this camp and provided specialized training on communication and mental health awareness tailored for the marginalized community of Lyari. The training was led by none other than Dr Jawed Akbar Dars, an extraordinary psychiatrist and a remarkable human being who has dedicated his life to serving Pakistan. It gives me immense pleasure to have him on our Board of Directors at Uplifting Futures. His guidance and expertise are invaluable, and his passion for mental health is truly inspiring.

We are incredibly excited about the upcoming camp, and the energy and enthusiasm from our volunteers are contagious! We received an overwhelming number of volunteering requests, but only those who attended this mandatory training session will be eligible to participate.

In a world where 1 in 7 adolescents experience a mental disorder, we can't afford to look away. These young minds, grappling with depression, anxiety, and behavioral disorders, account for a staggering 13% of the global burden of disease.

Adolescence is a time of growth and discovery, but also vulnerability. Exposure to poverty, abuse, violence, or even the natural emotional changes of this age can lead to serious mental health problems. The consequences don't stop with adulthood – they carry forward, impairing lives and limiting opportunities.

And the stakes are high:
