Mehndi is a beautiful part of every wedding… but what many brides don’t realize is that mehndi reactions are becoming increasingly common—especially with “black henna” containing harmful chemicals like PPD.

As a dermatologist, I often see brides just days before their big event with itching, burning, redness, or even blisters on their hands 😣

This isn’t just irritation—this can be henna dermatitis, and if not treated early, it may lead to long-term pigmentation or marks.

💡 Here’s what you should do immediately if a reaction occurs:
• Gently wash with plain water (no scrubbing)
• Apply a cold compress to calm the skin
• Use a fragrance-free moisturizer
• Take an antihistamine if itching is severe

❌ Avoid home remedies or random creams—they often make it worse.

⚠️ If you notice swelling, blisters, or spreading rash, don’t ignore it. Early treatment is key to prevent scars and pigmentation before your big day.
