Do you know what is hemophilia?

Hemophilia is usually an inherited bleeding disorder in which the blood does not clot properly. This can lead to spontaneous bleeding as well as bleeding following injuries or surgery. Hemophilia is a genetic disorder and treatment includes regular replacement of the specific clotting factor that is reduced.

Millions of lives are saved with safe blood and blood products and their transfusion. It is a critical requirement in emergency times. Every year, World Blood Donor Day is celebrated on June 14 to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products as a lifesaving gift.

During this Covid-19 period, most people required blood donors to improve the health and quality of life of many patients. Access to blood plays a vital role for those who are in need of it.

Despite this pandemic, donors in many countries have continued to donate blood and plasma to patients who need a transfusion. This extraordinary work has highlighted the crucial role of well-organized, committed, voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors in ensuring a safe and sufficient blood supply during normal and emergency times.
