Chronic diseases are long-lasting conditions that usually can be controlled but not cured. People living with chronic illnesses often must manage daily symptoms that affect their quality of life, and experience acute health problems and complications that can shorten their life expectancy. According to the Centers for Disease Control, chronic disease is the leading cause of death and disability in the United States, accounting for 70% of all deaths. Moreover, chronic conditions such as back pain and depression are often the main drivers of decreased productivity and increased healthcare costs. Data from the World Health Organization show that chronic disease is the major cause of premature death around the world, even in places where infectious diseases are rampant. The good news is that at Dr. Mahboob and Faryal Diagnostic Center, we have many success stories of not only preventing this chronic disease from further damaging one body but also getting them cured in an orderly fashion.
So why wait to talk to us on WhatsApp at +92 309 3334381 for a quick response you can message us here as well.

Clinical Symptoms
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, 5th Edition (DSM-5), is a clinical resource that practitioners use to diagnose mental health conditions. As with other conditions, there are specific clinical criteria that need to be met in order for someone to be diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Psychosis
Schizophrenia is classified as a psychotic disorder.1 People with schizophrenia have symptoms of psychosis, an abnormal state in which the higher functions of the mind are disrupted.

In psychosis, some combination of a person's perceptions, thought processes, beliefs, and emotions appear to become disconnected from reality. These symptoms may come and go.

Psychosis usually occurs in three phases: a prodromal phase when changes in thoughts, feelings, and perceptions begin, an acute phase when psychotic symptoms occur, and a recovery phase where support, medication, and therapy aid in improving the condition.2

Positive Symptoms
Symptoms of schizophrenia are referred to as positive or negative. That doesn't mean that some are good and some are bad. Positive symptoms are those that are present in someone with schizophrenia that someone without schizophrenia or another mental health condition would not experience.3 Examples of these symptoms include:

Delusions Hallucinations Disorganized speech Disorganized behavior

Delusions
Delusions are fixed, false beliefs that don’t make sense in the context of a person’s culture. Although everyone has distorted beliefs from time to time, people with psychotic delusions can’t be convinced that their beliefs aren’t real.
Hallucinations
Hallucinations are false sensory experiences that have no basis in the external world. Psychotic hallucinations occur when the person is fully awake and not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Auditory hallucinations (hearing voices) and visual hallucinations (seeing things) are the most common, but a person can hallucinate a touch (for example, bugs crawling on the skin), taste, or smell.
Disorganized Speech
This is also known as "loose association." In psychotically disorganized speech, words are not linked together based on the normal rules of language but may be strung together based on sounds, rhyme, puns, or free associations.

Although everyone makes speech errors, especially when they’re tired or stressed, psychotically disorganized speech is obviously abnormal. It can be difficult or impossible to understand.

Disorganized Behavior
Psychotically disorganized behaviors are not goal-directed and don’t make sense in context. For example, taking one’s clothes off to take a bath is sensible. Taking one’s clothes off on a public bus is an example of disorganized behavior.

Laughing at inappropriate times or for no reason is a disorganized behavior. Adopting strange postures or freezing can be examples of catatonic behaviors.

What is diverticulitis?
By age 50, about half of people have diverticulosis, a health issue in which pockets (or diverticula) form in the wall of the large bowel. In about 5% of people, these pockets may become acutely inflamed, or swollen, which is called diverticulitis.

Diverticulitis can be painful. It often comes about quickly
Diverticulitis may need to be treated with an antibiotic.
Recent data reveals that 20% of people with diverticulitis have recurrent flare-ups, often within five years of the first attack. There are steps you can take to lower the risk of future attacks.
In Western countries, diverticulitis is most common in women over the age of 60. Based on limited evidence, diverticulitis is more common in non-Hispanic Whites compared with other races.

Normal colon vs colon with diverticulosis
What are the symptoms of diverticulitis?
Symptoms of diverticulitis include:
Abdominal, or belly, pain and cramping, soreness, often on the lower left side.
Fever.
A change in bowel habits, such as diarrhea (loose stool) or constipation (hard stool or trouble passing stool).
Nausea.
Throwing up.
Chills.

13/01/2023

Celiac disease is a condition in which the immune system is abnormally sensitive to gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder; autoimmune disorders occur when the immune system malfunctions and attacks the body's own tissues and organs. Without a strict, lifelong gluten-free diet, inflammation resulting from immune system overactivity may cause a wide variety of signs and symptoms involving many parts of the body.

Celiac disease can develop at any age after an individual starts eating foods containing gluten. The classic symptoms of the condition result from inflammation affecting the gastrointestinal tract. This inflammation damages the villi, which are small, finger-like projections that line the small intestine and provide a greatly increased surface area to absorb nutrients. In celiac disease, the villi become shortened and eventually flatten out. Intestinal damage causes diarrhea and poor absorption of nutrients, which may lead to weight loss. Abdominal pain, swelling (distention), and food intolerances are common in celiac disease. Inflammation associated with celiac disease may lead to an increased risk of developing certain gastrointestinal cancers such as cancers of the small intestine or esophagus.

Inflammation and poor nutrient absorption may lead to problems affecting many other organs and systems of the body in affected individuals. These health problems may include iron deficiency that results in a low number of red blood cells (anemia), vitamin deficiencies, low bone mineral density (osteoporosis), itchy skin rashes (dermatitis herpetiformis), defects in the enamel of the teeth, chronic fatigue, joint pain, poor growth, delayed puberty, infertility, or repeated miscarriages. Neurological problems have also been associated with celiac disease; these include migraine headaches, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and recurrent seizures (epilepsy). Many people with celiac disease have one or more of these varied health problems but do not have gastrointestinal symptoms. This form of the condition is called nonclassic celiac disease. Researchers now believe that nonclassic celiac disease is actually more common than the classic form.

Celiac disease often goes undiagnosed because many of its signs and symptoms are nonspecific, which means they may occur in many disorders. Most people who have one or more of these nonspecific health problems do not have celiac disease. On average, a diagnosis of celiac disease is not made until 6 to 10 years after symptoms begin.

Some people have silent celiac disease, in which they have no symptoms of the disorder. However, people with silent celiac disease do have immune proteins in their blood (antibodies) that are common in celiac disease. They also have inflammatory damage to their small intestine that can be detected with a biopsy.

In a small number of cases, celiac disease does not improve with a gluten-free diet and progresses to a condition called refractory sprue. Refractory sprue is characterized by chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, poor absorption of nutrients, and an increased risk of developing a type of cancer of the immune cells called T-cell lymphoma.
