Institute of Professional Psychology - BU IPP-BU offers BS, MS/MPhil and PhD programs in psychology to meet the health, organizational, educational and human development needs of our society

The Institute of Professional Psychology has been established in response to dire need for mental health professionals and acute dearth of professional services in Pakistan. Our mission is to provide excellent education for career in Psychology through integration of theory and professional practice. We strive to provide our students with every possible resource for academic success. The programs offered at graduate and post graduate levels are tailored to meet the latest curriculum requirements in the field of psychology; with specializations in domains of Clinical, Educational and Organizational psychology. We not only educate people through the degree programs, but also with various workshops and training sessions that cater diverse topics. It works as an attempt to give our masses the flavor of psychology. Our dedicated faculty members are not only scholars but practicing psychologist with years of hands-on experience. The Family Room at Umeed-e-Nau, Institute of Professional Psychology (IPP), Bahria University Karachi Campus, was inaugurated on 29th October 2025. The ceremony was graciously led by Dr. , Director/Principal, IPP, and Dr. Noreen Jaffri, Head of Department, Institute of Professional Psychology.

The event was graced by Rear Admiral (R) Muhammad Zubair Shafique HI (M), Director General, Karachi Campus, as the Chief Guest, while Commodore (R) Faiq Hussain, Director of Administration, BUKC, was also present on the occasion.

The ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran by IPP student Mr. Saad and a Dua for the success of the initiative by Ms. Shabnam Arshi, Assistant Professor, IPP.

During the visit, the Clinical Incharges provided a detailed briefing to the Director General regarding the objectives, facilities, and envisioned impact of the Family Room.

The Family Room has been designed as a dedicated therapeutic and educational space for assessment, observation, and psychotherapy. It aims to facilitate family therapy sessions, psychoeducation, communication enhancement, and interpersonal relationship counselling. The space provides a confidential, comfortable, and professional environment conducive to addressing family dynamics, marital issues, child–parent relationships, and other systemic concerns through structured interventions.

The initiative was acknowledged as a significant step in strengthening IPP’s ongoing commitment to clinical training, therapeutic excellence, and holistic learning, fostering an environment that supports both professional growth and community well-being.

This day marks the founding of the Republic of Türkiye — a symbol of strength, unity, and progress. IPP proudly joins in honoring the nation’s remarkable journey and its enduring commitment to democracy, education, and human development.

IPP shares a strong academic connection with Türkiye through its student exchange programs with esteemed institutions such as Altınbaş University, Istanbul Aydın University, İzmir University of Economics, Üsküdar University, Yaşar University, and Yeditepe University. On 10 October 2025, the Institute of Professional Psychology (IPP), Bahria University Karachi, collaborated with Special Olympics Pakistan (SOP) to organize a Mental Health Camp for Athlete Leaders , a heartwarming initiative aimed at promoting emotional well-being, self-expression, and inclusion.

The IPP team, including Clinical Incharges and the Alumni Coordinator, visited the camp, where postgraduate students from IPP conducted a series of creative and therapeutic activities designed to help athletes explore their emotions, enhance self-awareness, and build meaningful connections.

The event was led by Ms. Duaa Raghib, Program Coordinator – Athlete Leadership at Special Olympics Pakistan and an IPP alumna, whose dedication to mental health advocacy made this collaboration possible.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Special Olympics Pakistan for this impactful partnership and to our passionate students for representing IPP’s commitment to community service, empathy, and inclusion.

Collaborative Meeting Between IPP-BU and IBP Karachi!

The Institute of Professional Psychology (IPP), Bahria University Karachi, had the pleasure of hosting a distinguished delegation from the Institute of Behavioural Psychology (IBP), including Mrs. Habiba Habib and Ms. Anushka Kharadi.

The meeting focused on exploring potential collaborations and gathering valuable feedback about IPP alumni currently serving at IBP.

IPP BU has signed a MoU with Karachi Down Syndrome Program KDSP. This partnership provides a unique opportunity for undergraduate and post graduate psychology students to engage with the down syndrome population. This will provide valuable experiences for the students in the field of psychology.

KDSP - A Down Syndrome Organisation (KDSP), a non-profit organization, was launched in March 2014 by a group of concerned parents and passionate individuals who due to limited support and resources available locally, realized a need for a platform for those with Down syndrome.

Dean’s PP Visit – Day 2

On the second day of the Dean Faculty of Professional Psychology’s visit, Dr. Uzma Masroor continued her engagements at IPP-BU Karachi with students, faculty, and alumni teams.

The day began with a briefing from Clinical In-Charges, followed by an overview of alumni linkages and upcoming events presented by the Alumni Coordinator. She then met the Mentoring Team, discussing the role of mentoring in supporting student growth.

During her campus tour, she visited classrooms and interacted with students before observing the scholarship interviews.

Dr. Masroor also had the opportunity to interact with the Director General of Karachi Campus, where she was presented with a memento as a token of appreciation. This interaction highlighted the strong institutional support and collaboration for the future of IPP.

In the afternoon, she met with faculty members and the Head of Department for an open dialogue on academic progress, and later engaged with PhD candidates and the PG Coordinator, exchanging ideas on research and professional development.

Day 2 concluded with photographs and warm exchanges, reflecting a spirit of collaboration and encouragement, further strengthening the vision for IPP’s continued growth.

Dean’s PP Visit – Day 1

IPP-BU Karachi had the honour of welcoming Dr. Uzma Masroor, the newly appointed Dean, Faculty of Professional Psychology, on September 25, 2025.

Her first day at IPP carried an energy of connection and curiosity. She visited the Umeed-e-Nau Clinic, where she showed a genuine interest in the services being offered and the dedication of the team behind them.

During a Career Development lecture, our BS-8 final year students shared their hopes and questions, receiving encouraging guidance from the Dean, a moment that left them inspired and motivated.

The afternoon included a presentation on IPP’s journey by the Director/Principal Dr. Kiran Bashir Ahmad, PhD. and concluded with the observation of a Faculty Development Session on psychological assessment at the Psychology Lab.

Day 1 closed with a shared sense of inspiration and direction for the future of IPP.

A proud moment for IPP BU as our alumna secures prestigious international scholarships.

We are proud to share that IPP BU alumna, Swaleha J. Khowaja (Batch 2018–2022)BS Psychology, has been awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship to pursue her MSc in Global Mental Health at King’s College London.

She has also received the Erasmus Mundus Global MINDS Scholarship, along with admission offers from top universities including Heidelberg, Edinburgh, SOAS, Queen Mary, and Bristol.

On 12 September 2025, the Institute of Professional Psychology, Bahria University, welcomed the team from Savaira Foundation and Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an inspiring discussion on future collaboration.

Dr. Yasmeen Khan, Founder & Director of the Savaira Foundation, and Ms. Tabinda, Senior Psychologist at JPMC and proud alumna of IPP, joined Dr. Kiran Bashir Ahmad, PhD., Director/Principal IPP Dr. Noreen Jaffri (Head of Department, IPP), Clinical Incharges, and the Alumni Coordinator to explore joint initiatives in the areas of mental health training, community projects for underserved groups, workshops on trauma care, awareness and psychosocial support, as well as research and evidence-based program development.

These collaborations align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health & Wellbeing), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
