Hair Fall – When to Worry and What to Do!
Hair fall is one of the most common concerns I encounter in my dermatology practice—and one of the most emotionally distressing for patients.
We all shed some hair daily (50–100 strands is considered normal), but when hair loss becomes excessive, patchy, or persistent, it's time to dig deeper.
There are many causes of hair fall:
- Nutritional deficiencies(especially iron, Vitamin D)
- Hormonal imbalances (like thyroid disorders or PCOS)
- Post-illness hair shedding (especially after high fever, infections, or COVID-19)
- Stress, crash diets, or sudden weight loss
- Genetic predispositions like male or female pattern baldness
- Scalp conditions such as dandruff or fungal infections
As a and now a ,I am passionate about bridging the gap between clinical knowledge and public understanding. Through writing, I aim to demystify complex skin and hair concerns—and help people make informed choices.
What can you do if you're experiencing hair fall?
1. Avoid panic—and avoid self-medication.
2. Get a proper diagnosis. A detailed history, lab tests, and scalp examination are key.
3. Follow a structured plan. Treatments may include topical serums, oral supplements, procedures like PRP, or simply lifestyle adjustments.
Remember, early intervention always brings better outcomes. I will be happy if this post is shared for public awareness.
