🌟Meet the Visionary Behind Modern Reproductive Medicine in Sindh: Prof. Dr. Zahida Baqai 🌟
We are honored to introduce Prof. Dr. Zahida Baqai, a pioneering force in assisted reproductive technologies in Pakistan. In 1994, Prof. Dr. Zahida Baqai established the Institute of Assisted-Reproductive Techniques, marking a monumental step in reproductive medicine. By 1997, this institute celebrated the birth of the first In-Vitro Fertilization baby in Sindh.
Under her leadership, the institute has grown to encompass a full range of advanced reproductive techniques, achieving outcomes on par with global standards. The laboratory boasts state-of-the-art quality control and equipment redundancy, with a team that includes two resident embryologists, an andrologist, and two scientists. Prof. Dr. Zahida Baqai’s collaboration with the Sydney Fertility Center brings a visiting embryologist to the institute for multiple sessions annually.
The clinical team comprises five gynecologists, including specialists in reproductive biology and endocrinology. Services offered at the center include intrauterine insemination, in-vitro fertilization, intracytoplasmic s***m injection, and advanced treatments for azoos***mia and other conditions. Notably, the center also provides cryopreservation services for s***m, ova, and embryos, with plans to expand as a training center in Pakistan.
Prof. Dr. Zahida Baqai’s dedication to innovation has led to the adoption of blastocyst transfers, significantly improving pregnancy rates. The center adopts a reproductive biological approach, particularly benefiting older women and those with previous treatment failures. Her pioneering use of Metformin has virtually eliminated ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.
With over 1,400 patients treated and 400 pregnancies achieved, Prof. Dr. Zahida Baqai’s institute continues to make strides in reproductive health, driven by a commitment to excellence and compassionate care.
