This is such a profound hadith and I will share two valuable lessons we can learn from it in shaa Allah.
Lesson 1: While the whole world has just started raving about "mindfulness", this hadith has taught it 1400 years back.
We have been told not to fill our stomachs in vain, mindlessly, which is the modern equivalent of snacking and binge eating.๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅง๐ง๐ฐ
Eat only when you feel truly hungry, not because you are bored or someone offered you something.
Lesson 2: the second essential lesson it teaches us that even when we do start eating, we have to be mindful while consuming too.
Eat only as much as needed and not to overeat.
This is so important because now we know that our stomachs have the capacity of expanding and shrinking, if we keep overeating, our stomachs keep growing, we gain more weight, feel more lazy, move less and continue to eat more as our stomach demands more. It is a never ending cycle. ๐คข
Whereas, when we eat less, we feel lighter, its easier for us to move, our mood gets better and we keep eating in moderation as our stomach doesn't demand more. ๐ถโโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
When eating, make sure your meals are nutrient dense with protein, vitamins and healthy fats. Limit carbs and artificial sugars. Opt for natural super foods like dates, nuts and fruits when you do want to snack rather than eating any packaged snacks. ๐๐๐
