So, a few days ago, I was happy to have received my , a product of Gilgit Baltistan. Packaging was on point.Pics attached. It was a one kg bag with 3 whole frozen trouts..
Fish Eyes were shiny and popped out. ✅
Red Fish Gills ✅
When poked with finger, it bounces back, springing back to its original shape without any indentation✅
Passed. Passed. Passed.
Fish was super clean. No scales, No nasties.
To check how this fish really reacts to different cooking styles, i decided on 2 recipes.
A simple Baked Fish & An Asian Ispired Crispy Fish (topped with cooked crunchy vegetables and Asian Flavoured Sauces).
My test here was based on fish maintaining its shape and not breaking during cooking. Surprisingly, while cooking both the recipes, there was no *fishy smell* in my kitchen. YAY!
For Baked Fish, i seasoned one whole trout with salt & pepper with dill leaves and lemon slices stuffed in its tummy. Baked for 15 mins.
Verdict: Perfectly cooked fish. Fish meat was milky, meaty and delish. Breakage: No!!!!
Asian Inspired Fish: I patted the fish with corn flour and fried it for 8 mins, 4 min each side till it became crispy. Breakage during frying: NO!
It was served on a platter with my Asian concotion of sauces, vegetables and aromatics.
Verdict: It kept its shape during frying. No matter what ingredients you use; be it Desi Tarka, Pan Asian sauces, Continental magic, rainbow trout wil keep its own flavour. Tried & Tested.
Am i going to buy HECK YEAH!
Am i going to pose with it again? OFCOURSE! IT'S CLEAN AND DOESNT STINK
Am i going to recommend it to my friends and family? I ALREADY DID!
Fresh Fish. Clean Fish. Meaty Texture. Doesnt Break. Doesnt become all mincey. Compliments all ingredients. Not Stinky. GREAT PACKAGING.
P.S: i chopped off fish head because it creeps me out.
