Prof Sadiqua Jeffrey Maternal Fetal Medicine (SJMFM) department is the first public sector CPSP-recognized Maternal Fetal Medicine unit in Sindh , dedicated to providing advanced, evidence-based care for high-risk pregnancies. The unit is led by Dr. Erum Majid and Prof. Nighat Shah.
SJMFM serves as a center of excellence, offering a full spectrum of prenatal diagnostic and therapeutic services, including:
• Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) and amniocentesis
• Prenatal genetic diagnosis
• Screening programs for thalassemia, along with community awareness initiatives
The unit manages high-risk pregnancies on a daily basis, ensuring comprehensive and individualized care. Its strength lies in a multidisciplinary approach, with close collaboration with cardiology teams (ICD services) for optimal management of cardiac disease in pregnancy.
Beyond clinical care, SJMFM plays a vital role in education and training, contributing to the development of future specialists in Maternal Fetal Medicine under CPSP accreditation.
Through strong leadership, academic commitment, and patient-centered care, SJMFM continues to set a benchmark for maternal and fetal healthcare in the public sector.
