Health Minister Sindh Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Medical Facilities at Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences
Sindh, Pakistan - September 26, 2024 - The Health Minister of Sindh, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, has inaugurated several advanced healthcare units at the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), further solidifying Sindh’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare to the people of Pakistan.
Dr. Pechuho officially opened the Kidney Care Centre, which will provide critical dialysis services to patients in need. This center is aimed at addressing the growing issue of renal diseases by offering timely, high-quality dialysis treatments.
In a groundbreaking development for the country's healthcare system, Dr. Pechuho also inaugurated Pakistan’s first Robotic Joint Replacement Unit. This cutting-edge facility will offer advanced orthopedic services, including the robotic-assisted replacement of knees, hips, joints, and shoulders. The introduction of robotic surgery is a significant leap forward for orthopedic treatment in Pakistan, ensuring precision, faster recovery, and improved patient outcomes.
Additionally, the inauguration included the Department of Neurospinal and Gamma Knife Surgery, which will provide specialized neurosurgical services. This department is equipped with the latest technology for non-invasive treatment of brain disorders, enhancing the medical services available to patients with neurological conditions.
Dr. Pechuho also opened the Central Pharmacy, designed to ensure that patients have access to essential medicines, improving the overall healthcare delivery system at GIMS.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho emphasized the Sindh government’s commitment to improving healthcare facilities across the province. "We are dedicated to ensuring that every citizen has access to the best possible medical services. These newly inaugurated facilities are a testament to our continued efforts to raise the standards of healthcare in Pakistan," she said.
Dr. Rahim Bux Bhatti, Director of GIMS, expressed his gratitude to the Sindh government for its unwavering support in enabling these advancements. "With the backing of the Sindh government, GIMS is achieving new milestones in the field of health. These additions to our institute will greatly benefit the people and set new benchmarks in medical care across Pakistan," he stated.
