It was this doctor in Delhi who successfully operated 13-year-old girl from Pakistan who has returned to her normal life after suffering from a rare muscular rotatory condition.

Rajagopalan Krishnan, a spinal surgeon at the Apollo Hospital in Delhi, offered to do Afsheen's surgery for free. Now that she has been able to walk, talk, and eat on her own for four months, she has gained independence. The wounds of her surgery have healed. She receives weekly updates from Dr Krishnan via Skype.
Afsheen also suffers from cerebral palsy and learned to walk and speak quite late in life, which further pushed her behind her peers.

Life of Afsheen Gul from Pakistan's Sindh province, had been a little different. The youngest of seven siblings, she never went to school or played with her friends. So far, she spent her life confined to her house in Mithi.

When she was just 10 months old, she fell from her sister's arm and her neck was bent at 90 degrees as a result. Doctors gave her some medications and placed a belt around her neck to support her, but her condition only worsened.

Afsheen's brother Yaqoob Qumbar says. "We are so happy - the doctor saved my sister's life. For us he is an angel,"

NICVD carried out the country's first mechanical heart transplant on Monday.

Dr Hameedullah Malik said that a patient can undergo this procedure only if their other organs are functional. "Begum's heart was only 15 percent functional prior to the surgery but all her other organs were working fine."

When asked what the difference is between a regular heart transplant and a mechanical one, Dr Malik explained: "A regular heart transplant is as though inserting a new heart in the body but in a mechanical heart transplant the organ is not replaced, in fact, the valve or the pumping mechanism is fixed by using a device. This device then pumps blood across the body"

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has started free treatment for the residents of newly merged districts since the federal government stopped cashless medication on June 30.

1.6 million tribal people are being excluded from receiving free health care due to an abrupt decision by the federal government. As a result, the provincial government has decided to continue providing free health care to people of former Fata communities.

“We have asked the State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC) to extend the facilities to the population of erstwhile Fata on emergency basis. It means that now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be giving free services to all its population. We are already providing free health coverage to eight million families of the province. Now the population of tribal districts has been included in the Sehat Card Plus (SCP) programme,” said the minister.

The Supreme Court decision is not only dividing the country into states with legal abortion and those with illegal abortion, but it is also illustrating sharp divisions within anti-abortion states over whether or not to allow exceptions and how to enforce the law.

During a surgery at a private hospital in Tharparkar district of Sindh on Sunday, the staff of a hospital cut off a newborn baby's head and left it inside the mother's womb.
The incident occurred in a private hospital in Chachro tehsil in Tharparkar, said the district health officer.
The woman was then taken to the Civil Hospital in Mithi where no facilities were available for her treatment.
After that, she was transferred to the Civil Hospital in Hyderabad where the rest of the newborn's body was taken out of the mother's womb, saving her life.

There has been a rise in coronavirus cases in Pakistan over the past 24 hours, according to a daily update by the National Institute of Health, Islamabad (NIH).

A total of 13,941 coronavirus diagnostic tests were performed across Pakistan, resulting in a positivity rate of 3.67% and a total of 1,533,047 cases, according to NIH.

This is the high time for the doctors to sense the alarm coming and to stay prepared for it especially on the personal level first. Protect yourself with the sanitizers, masks and vaccine.

A monkeypox infection is a zoonosis (a condition transmitted from animal to human) that has symptoms that are very similar to those of a chickenpox infection but is clinically less severe.
Although monkeypox is generally self-limiting, it can be severe in some individuals, including children, pregnant women, and persons with immune suppression. Human infections with the West African clade appear to cause less severe disease compared to the Congo Basin clade, with a case fatality rate of 3.6% compared to 10.6% for the Congo Basin clade.
It has been detected in 14 countries including UK and Britian. 80 cases has been reported in Europe including Spain, France, Italy, Sweden, Portugal. US, Canada, Switzerland and Israel are the latest countries to confirm rare viral disease.
