Migraine is a recurrent headache that occurs with throbbing and pulsating pain on one side of the head, usually accompanied with sensitivity to light or noise, nausea and vomiting, and effect the individual’s quality of life.

Investigation has shown that there are 3 classes of drugs that are 2 to 5 times more effective than ibuprofen for migraine medication, which include triptans, ergot and anti-emetics.

However, triptans (sumatriptan, zolmitriptan and rizatriptan) are not recommended for uncontrolled hypertension and cardiovascular risk patients.

So, NSAIDs with the combination of other analgesics could be used for as needed OTC treatment for migraine (a combination of acetaminophen, caffeine and aspirin is more effective than ibuprofen).
